What this workflow does

Giving a community a place to try AI images usually means adding a third-party bot you don't control. This workflow builds the same idea with your own OpenAI account and a channel on your own Discord server. People type a prompt, and the image comes back in the channel.

The Discord trigger watches a channel for new messages. Each message passes through a Filter, which decides whether it is a prompt. The template ships with no condition set, so you add one, for example a message that starts with a keyword. Messages that pass go to OpenAI Generate Image (DALL-E), with the message text mapped in as the prompt. The final step sends a Discord channel message that includes the image it returned.

The Filter matters here. Without it, every chat line becomes an image request, and the workflow's own replies could be picked up as new messages. Task History shows each run, including the prompt sent to OpenAI and whether the Filter let the message through.

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Questions about this workflow

Do I need my own OpenAI account?

Yes. The image step runs through the OpenAI account you connect, so generation is billed to that account by OpenAI.

Will every message in the channel make an image?

No. As imported the Filter has no condition, and an empty Filter stops every run, so no images are made yet. Add a condition, such as a starting keyword, so only those messages produce one.

Can people use this in any channel on my server?

No. The trigger watches one channel. Import the workflow again, or add a second trigger, to cover another channel.

What does the reply in Discord look like?

It is a channel message with the image from OpenAI. You write the rest of the text yourself, for example the prompt that produced it.
