When WPForms form is submitted, check if a field contains a string and add the submission to Google Spreadsheet
WPForms submissions go through a Filter that checks whether a field contains the text you set, and only matching entries are added as rows in Google Sheets. You add the condition after import.

What this workflow does
A single WPForms form often collects entries that belong in different places. Maybe only messages that mention a product name, or sign-ups from a certain company domain, should reach the sheet your team reads. This workflow is built to pass along just those entries and leave the rest out.
The WPForms trigger fires when a visitor submits a form on your site and hands every field to the next step. That step is a Filter set to Continue If Condition Meet. When the condition matches, the run moves on to Google Sheets, which writes the mapped fields into a new row. When it does not match, the run ends and no row is written.
The condition is not set in the template. As imported, the Filter has no condition, and an empty Filter stops every run, so no submission reaches the sheet until you add one. Open the Filter, pick the form field to check, choose the "contains" comparison and enter the text you are looking for. Then send a test entry and confirm in Task History that it passes or stops as you expect.
Route enquiries about one product
Your contact form has a free-text message box. Only entries whose message contains a product name are written to the sheet that product's team works from.
Log sign-ups from a partner domain
Set the condition to the email field containing a partner's domain. Sign-ups from that company's staff fill a dedicated sheet you can share with them.
Collect entries tagged with a campaign code
A hidden or text field carries a campaign code. Entries whose field contains your code reach the sheet, so you can count responses for that campaign.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
WPForms New Form SubmissionFires when a visitor submits a WPForms form on your WordPress site. Each submitted field is passed on, so the Filter can check it and Google Sheets can store it.
Filter Continue If Condition MeetChecks the submission against the condition you add after import, such as a field containing a word. Ships empty, and an empty Filter stops every run, so set the condition before you turn the workflow on.
Google Sheets Add New RowAdds a row to the Google Sheets spreadsheet you pick for each entry that passed the Filter. Map WPForms fields to your columns and connect your Google account.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- WPForms PluginPlugin
- Google Sheets AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Add a second condition to the Filter if one text match is too broad, for example the message containing a product name and the email field not being empty.
- To send non-matching entries somewhere too, replace the Filter with a Router and give each route its own condition and its own Google Sheets step, using conditions that cannot both match.
- After you set the condition, submit one entry that contains your text and one that does not, then check Task History to see where each run stopped.
Questions about this workflow
Why are no WPForms entries reaching my sheet after import?
Because this template leaves the Filter blank, it halts each WPForms run before Google Sheets. Add the field, the contains comparison and your text in the Filter step, then test again.
Is the WPForms contains check case-sensitive?
Test it with your own entries. Submit one with the text in a different case and look at Task History to see whether the Filter let it through.
What happens to WPForms entries that do not contain the text?
The run stops at the Filter and no row is added. WPForms itself still handles the entry as it normally does, including any notification emails you set up there.
Can I check more than one WPForms field?
Yes. The Filter accepts several conditions, so you can check two or more fields before an entry is allowed through to Google Sheets.
