What this workflow does
Attentive is often where shoppers first opt in, through a sign-up unit on your store. If newsletters or other campaigns go out from Mailchimp, those subscribers need to be there as well. Exporting and re-importing lists leaves gaps between runs. This workflow copies each email sign-up as it happens.
The Attentive trigger is Email Subscribed, which fires when a user subscribes to email. FlowMattic passes the subscriber's details to Mailchimp. The Add New Member step adds the address to the audience you choose, or updates the member if the address is already on that list.
Only email subscriptions start a run. SMS sign-ups use a separate Attentive trigger and don't reach Mailchimp through this template. Each run appears in Task History, where you can see the address Attentive sent and Mailchimp's response.
Store sign-ups into a Mailchimp newsletter
A shop captures emails with an Attentive sign-up unit and sends its weekly newsletter from Mailchimp. New subscribers join that audience as they opt in.

Add New Member updates them instead of adding a second copy, because the action adds a new member or updates an existing one.
Does an Attentive unsubscribe remove them from Mailchimp?
No. This workflow only reacts to email sign-ups. Unsubscribes need their own workflow on Attentive's Email Unsubscribed trigger.
Are existing Attentive subscribers copied to Mailchimp?
No. Only people who subscribe after you turn the workflow on are added. Move your existing list with a one-time export and import.
