Send a Slack alert when an Aircall agent declines a call

Whenever an Aircall agent declines an inbound call, FlowMattic posts a message to the Slack channel you pick, so a teammate can see it and follow up with the caller.

The Send a Slack alert when an Aircall agent declines a call workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Aircall, Slack
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

A declined call is easy to miss: the agent pressed decline for a reason, and nobody else may notice the caller is still waiting. This workflow puts each decline in front of the whole team in Slack, so someone can take the next call or ring the customer back.

The Aircall Call Agent Declined trigger fires when an agent declines an inbound call. It passes the call details on, which you can use to tell the team which number and agent were involved. A message about it then goes to a channel in Slack.

The Slack step ships empty. After import, connect your Slack workspace, pick the channel and write the alert, mapping call fields such as the caller's number and the agent's name. A test decline shows which fields Aircall sends.

The trigger covers declines only. Calls that ring out with no answer, or callers who leave a voicemail, are different Aircall events, so they don't post here.

Backup cover for a sales line

When a rep declines an inbound sales call during a meeting, the #sales-floor channel sees it and another rep calls the prospect back.

Support quality checks

A support lead watches the declines channel to spot agents who decline often and to rebalance the queue.

Small office front desk

In a small clinic, the receptionist gets a Slack alert when the doctor declines a patient call, then returns the call between appointments.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Aircall Call Agent Declined

Starts the workflow when an agent declines an inbound call in Aircall. The call's details, such as the number and agent, are passed to the Slack step for mapping.

  2. Step 2Action
    Slack Send Channel Message

Sends the decline alert to the Slack channel you pick. The template leaves this step blank, so connect Slack, choose the channel, and write the message with the caller number and agent mapped in from Aircall.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Aircall AccountAccount
  • Slack AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Include the caller's number in the Slack message so whoever picks up the alert can call back without opening Aircall.
  • To alert on unanswered calls that went to voicemail as well, import a second copy of this workflow and switch its trigger to Aircall's Call Voicemail Left event.
  • For a private team channel, replace the Slack step with the Send Private Channel Message action, or with Send Direct Message to alert one supervisor.

Questions about this workflow

Does this post to Slack for every missed Aircall call?

No. It fires only when an agent declines an inbound call. Calls that nobody answers or that end in a voicemail are separate Aircall events and need their own trigger.

Which Aircall details can I put in the Slack alert?

Any field the Call Agent Declined trigger sends. Decline a test call, look at the trigger data in Task History, and map the number, agent or other fields into the message.

Do outbound calls an agent cancels also post to Slack?

No. FlowMattic describes this Aircall trigger as firing when agents decline inbound calls, so only incoming calls the agent turns down post an alert.

It's an exceptional product. Works great and extremely valuable. I saved thousands of dollard on Zapier, as Flowmattic makes me able to host the automation myself. And very deeply integrates with the products I need.
