When Updown.io detects a performance drop, push a Pushover alert and log it in Google Sheets

When Updown.io reports a performance drop on a site you monitor, FlowMattic sends a Pushover notification to your devices and adds a row about the event to a Google Sheets log.

Updown.io Pushover Google Sheets

3 steps Setup ~5 min Used on 759 sites Free to import

The When Updown.io detects a performance drop, push a Pushover alert and log it in Google Sheets workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 3 steps across Updown.io, Pushover, Google Sheets
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

A slow site is easy to miss when you are only alerted for full outages. Updown.io can report performance drops, and this workflow turns each one into a push notification plus a line in a spreadsheet, so you hear about it now and keep a record for later.

The Updown.io trigger starts a run when it reports a performance drop for one of your checks. The event's details are passed to FlowMattic. The next step sends a notification through Pushover, which delivers it to the devices on your Pushover account.

Then FlowMattic adds a row to a Google Sheets spreadsheet. Over time the sheet becomes a list of every drop, which you can sort by site or date.

The template comes without mappings or message text. After import, connect all three accounts and wait for an Updown.io event, or trigger one, to see which details are sent. Then write the Pushover message and map the sheet columns. Each run appears in Task History with the result of the Pushover and Sheets steps.

Freelancer looking after client sites

A developer who maintains several client sites gets a phone notification when one slows down, and the sheet shows which client's site drops most.

Store owner during a sale

During a busy sale a shop owner wants to know at once if the site is slowing, and keeps the log to discuss with the host afterwards.

Monthly hosting review

An agency reviews the Google Sheets log each month to decide whether a site needs caching work or a hosting change.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Updown.io Performance Drop

Starts a run when Updown.io reports a performance drop on one of your checks. Connect Updown.io on import; the event's details are then ready to use.

  2. Step 2Action
    Pushover Send a Pushover Notification

Sends a Pushover notification to your devices. Write a short message that names the site affected, mapping in the details Updown.io sends.

  3. Step 3Action
    Google Sheets Add New Row

Adds a row about the drop to your chosen Google Sheets spreadsheet. Map the site and any timing details from Updown.io into the columns you set up.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Updown.io AccountAccount
  • Pushover AccountAccount
  • Google Sheets AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Put the site's address at the start of the Pushover message, so the notification on your lock screen tells you which site is affected.
  • Build a second workflow for Updown.io's down events if you want outages logged in the same sheet, with a column that says which kind of event it was.
  • Set up the sheet's header row before mapping, and add a column for notes on what you found when you looked into each drop.

Questions about this workflow

Does this alert me when the site goes fully down?

No. The trigger is Updown.io's Performance Drop event only. Outages are a different event, so set up another workflow if you want those too.

Do I need a Pushover account and app?

Yes. The notification goes through your Pushover account to the devices registered on it. Connect the account in the Pushover step after import.

Which Updown.io details end up in the Google Sheets row?

The ones you map. The Add New Row step ships without column mapping, so after import you pick the spreadsheet and sheet and match the Performance Drop data to your columns. Run a test event first to see which values Updown.io sends.

What does the Pushover alert say?

What you write. The template leaves the message empty, so add the text and map Updown.io's details into it after import.
