When a new submission is received in Typeform, create a customer in WooCommerce

Each new Typeform response creates a customer profile in WooCommerce from the answers, so people who fill in your form are ready in the store before they buy.

Typeform WooCommerce

2 steps Setup ~5 min Used on 2.7k sites Free to import

The When a new submission is received in Typeform, create a customer in WooCommerce workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Typeform, WooCommerce
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Forms often collect the people who will later shop with you: wholesale applicants, event sign-ups, club members. Copying their details into the store by hand is slow and error-prone. This workflow takes each Typeform response and turns it into a WooCommerce customer.

The trigger fires when the Typeform form you connect receives a new submission, and passes the answers on. The second step, Create a Customer, makes a new customer profile in WooCommerce. It ships unmapped: after import you match the form's answers, such as email, first name, last name and address, to the customer fields the step offers.

Every submission runs the step, including repeat submissions from the same person. A WooCommerce customer is also a WordPress account tied to an email, so WooCommerce may refuse to create a second customer for an email that is already registered. You can read what WooCommerce answered for any submission in Task History.

Send a test response with an email that isn't on your site yet, then open the WooCommerce Customers list to check the new profile and the fields you mapped.

Wholesale account applications

A coffee roaster collects trade enquiries in Typeform and gets a WooCommerce customer for each café, ready for an account manager to review.

Pre-registration for a store launch

A clothing brand runs a Typeform waitlist before opening its shop, and every entrant already has a customer profile on launch day.

Workshop sign-ups who later buy kits

A pottery studio takes class registrations in Typeform, so students can log in and order materials with their details filled in.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Typeform New Form Submission

Starts the workflow when the Typeform form you connect gets a new submission. The answers become available for mapping into the WooCommerce customer.

  2. Step 2Action
    WooCommerce Create a Customer

Creates a new customer profile in WooCommerce. No fields are mapped in the template, so after import match the Typeform answers to the customer fields, starting with the email.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Typeform AccountAccount
  • WooCommerce PluginPlugin

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Make the email question required in Typeform, because the WooCommerce customer is tied to an email address.
  • Add a Filter between the Typeform trigger and the Create a Customer step that checks a consent or account question, so only people who asked for an account become customers.
  • Ask for billing details such as address and phone in the form and map them, so customers don't have to type them again at checkout.
  • Add an Email step after the Create a Customer step to send the new customer your shop link and how to set their password.

Questions about this workflow

What happens if the Typeform respondent already has an account in the store?

WooCommerce may refuse to create another customer for an email that is already registered. Check Task History for the response the step returned on that run.

Which Typeform answers end up in the WooCommerce customer profile?

Only the ones you map. The step ships empty, so you pick which answer fills the email, names, billing and shipping fields.

Does the new customer get login details?

That depends on your WooCommerce account and email settings. Test with your own address and check which emails arrive, or add your own Email step after the Create a Customer step.
