Create an announcement image for each new WooCommerce product

Each new WooCommerce product gets an announcement image rendered from your Image Builder template, and the product name and image link are posted to a Slack channel for your marketing team.

WooCommerce Image Builder Slack

3 steps Setup ~5 min Used on 2.2k sites Store Ops Free to import

The Create an announcement image for each new WooCommerce product workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 3 steps across WooCommerce, Image Builder, Slack
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

New products need announcing, and the announcement usually needs an image in your brand's style. Waiting on a designer for every launch slows that down. This workflow makes the image from a template as soon as the product is created and hands it to your team in Slack.

The WooCommerce trigger starts a run each time a product is added to your catalogue. Image Builder fills your saved template with the product details you map, such as name, price or photo, renders it through Cloudflare Browser Rendering and saves the PNG to the Media Library as product- plus the product ID. The Slack step posts the product name and the image URL to your chosen channel.

Pick your own Image Builder template after import, because the shipped ID 8 comes from the author's site. Image Builder also needs Cloudflare Browser Rendering credentials in FlowMattic Settings. Create one test product to see when the trigger fires in your store and which product fields it carries.

A boutique adding weekly arrivals

Each new item added in WooCommerce produces a branded card, and the marketing channel in Slack collects them for the weekly new-in post.

Launch posts for a merch store

A band's merch shop gets an image for every new T-shirt or poster, ready to post on social media when the item goes on sale.

Product images for a newsletter

The email team grabs each new product card from Slack and drops it into the next newsletter's what's-new section.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    WooCommerce New Product Created

Fires when a new product is created in WooCommerce. The product ID, name and other product data are passed to Image Builder and Slack.

  2. Step 2Action
Image Builder Generate Image from Template

Renders a PNG from your saved Image Builder template with the product details mapped in, and saves it to the Media Library as product- plus the product ID. Replace template ID 8 with yours.

  3. Step 3Action
    Slack Send Channel Message

Posts the new product's name and the announcement image link to the Slack channel you choose, so the marketing team has both in one message.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • WooCommerce PluginPlugin
  • Slack AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Map the product's price and main image into the Image Builder template, after a test product shows the exact field names.
  • If products are created as drafts and only some get published, add a Filter after the trigger on the product status so cards are made only for the ones you want.
  • For a private marketing channel, use Slack's Send Private Channel Message action in place of the last step.

Questions about this workflow

Does Image Builder need anything set up before the first product card?

Yes. Save an Image template in Image Builder and add Cloudflare Browser Rendering credentials in FlowMattic Settings. Then select your template in the step.

Will editing an existing WooCommerce product make a new image?

No. Only adding a product starts this workflow; editing one never does. Price or name changes later don't produce a fresh card.

Where is the announcement image kept?

In the WordPress Media Library as product- plus the product ID. The Slack message links straight to it.
