Let AI caption your daily quote card and post it to Slack

Once a day, an AI agent writes a short motivational line, can render it onto your Image Builder card template and can post the card to a Slack channel for your team.

The Let AI caption your daily quote card and post it to Slack workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 4 steps across Schedule, AI Agent, Image Builder, Slack
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

A small daily card in a team channel is a light way to start the day, but writing a new line and making an image every morning is easy to drop. This workflow hands both jobs to an AI agent on a daily schedule.

A Schedule trigger wakes the workflow once each day. The AI Agent step, set to OpenAI's GPT-4o, is told to write one short, original motivational line for a daily team card, render it on the image template and post the image to Slack. Its input is simply to write today's line and produce the card. It has two tools: Image Builder's Generate Image from Template, to render the card, and Slack Send Channel Message, to post it. The agent fills in the data for both.

The agent decides when to call its tools, so check Task History on the first few days to confirm it rendered and posted. The Image Builder tool points at template 8, an ID from the author's site; select your own. Rendering the card also depends on Cloudflare Browser Rendering details saved in FlowMattic Settings.

A remote team's morning channel

A distributed team gets a fresh motivational card in its general Slack channel each day, without anyone having to remember to post it.

A sales floor's daily boost

A sales manager has the agent post an upbeat card to the sales channel every morning before calls begin.

Trying out AI agents with tools

A team new to FlowMattic's AI Agent uses this small, low-stakes flow to see how an agent writes text, calls Image Builder and posts to Slack.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Schedule Every Day

Starts the workflow once every day at the time you set. No data comes in; the run exists to wake the agent.

  2. Step 2Action
    AI Agent Execute Agent

Hands the daily job to an AI agent using OpenAI's GPT-4o model. It is told to write one short motivational line, render it on the card template and post it to Slack, and it chooses when to call its tools.

  3. Step 3Tool
Image Builder Generate Image from Template

The agent's tool for rendering the card from your saved Image Builder template, with the data supplied by the agent. Pick your own template in place of ID 8.

  4. Step 4Tool
    Slack Send Channel Message

The agent's tool for posting to the Slack channel you choose. The agent writes the message, which can include the card's image link from the Image Builder tool.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • AI ProviderAccount
  • Slack AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Add to the system prompt what your template expects, such as a field called quote, so the agent sends Image Builder data in the right shape.
  • Want a theme? Put it in the agent's user input, for example a weekly focus or your company values, so the lines stay on topic.
  • Pick the run time in the Schedule trigger to match when your team logs on, so the card arrives at the start of their day.

Questions about this workflow

Will the AI agent always post the card to Slack?

It is instructed to, but an agent chooses when to use its tools. Check Task History after the first runs, and tighten the system prompt if it skips the image or the Slack post.

Which AI provider does the daily quote agent use?

The template is set to OpenAI's GPT-4o, so you need an OpenAI connection in FlowMattic. You can switch the agent to another provider and model you have set up.

What does the Image Builder tool need?

A saved Image template of your own and Cloudflare Browser Rendering credentials in FlowMattic Settings. The template ships pointing at ID 8 from another site.

Can the agent post to a private Slack channel?

For a private channel, give the agent Slack's Send Private Channel Message action as its posting tool, since that is the action FlowMattic provides for private channels.

It is self hosted and wordpress based. So you can effectively run this on any shared hosting with unlimited tasks. And new integrations are constantly being added. It's crazy how valuable this tool is.

The software works really well, and the team is adding integrations constantly, so I'm positive it eventually will catch up with Zapier. The flows are very easy to create and if you have any doubt, the team will give you great support.
