What this workflow does

Basin collects form submissions for static sites and landing pages that have no back end of their own. The entries sit in your Basin inbox, which does nothing for your mailing list. If you send newsletters or offers from Mailchimp, this workflow brings each person across as they submit.

The Basin trigger, New Submission, fires when a form receives a new submission, and every submitted field becomes data you can map. FlowMattic then calls Mailchimp Add New Member, which adds the person to the list you pick, or updates them if they already exist there.

Map the email field from your Basin form to the member's address, then any name fields you collect. Because the step updates existing members, someone who fills in the form twice stays one member with the newer details. Task History lists each run and Mailchimp's response, which helps when a submission did not reach the list.

Static site newsletter sign-ups

Your site is plain HTML with a Basin sign-up form. Each address submitted joins your Mailchimp audience, ready for the next newsletter.

Landing page waitlist

Add New Member adds new people or updates existing members, so a repeat submission refreshes the member's details instead of creating a second record.

Does Basin keep the submission as well?

Does Mailchimp send a confirmation email to new Basin sign-ups?

That depends on how the Mailchimp step and your audience are set up. Run a test with your own address after import and check whether you are subscribed straight away or asked to confirm.
