Add new Jotform submissions to a MailerLite group as subscribers

Each new Jotform submission is sent to MailerLite, where the person is created or updated as a subscriber and then placed in the group you choose for follow-up emails.

Jotform MailerLite

3 steps Setup ~5 min Used on 2.8k sites Free to import

The Add new Jotform submissions to a MailerLite group as subscribers workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 3 steps across Jotform, MailerLite
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Jotform is good at collecting answers, but the email address in each submission does little until it reaches your mailing tool. Downloading submissions and importing them into MailerLite means delays and missed people. This workflow moves every submitter into a MailerLite group as the form comes in.

The Jotform trigger, New Form Submission, starts a run each time someone submits your form. FlowMattic receives the submitted answers, including whichever email and name questions your form contains.

Then two MailerLite actions run in sequence. Create or Update Subscriber adds the person to your account, or refreshes their details if the address is already there. Add Subscriber to a Group then assigns that subscriber to a group that exists in MailerLite. Neither action is mapped in the template, so after import you connect MailerLite, map the Jotform email answer and any name or custom fields into the first action, and in the second choose the group and map the subscriber the first action returned.

Every submission goes through, so a person who fills in the form twice is processed twice and stays a single subscriber. Submit a test entry and read Task History to see what Jotform sent and what MailerLite answered.

Quote requests into a sales email series

A contractor's Jotform quote form adds each requester to a MailerLite group whose automation sends project examples while the quote is prepared.

Event registration list

A workshop organiser collects registrations with Jotform and keeps registrants in their own MailerLite group for reminders and the follow-up survey.

Customer feedback respondents

A café's feedback form puts respondents in a MailerLite group that receives the next month's offers.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Jotform New Form Submission

Starts the workflow whenever your Jotform form receives a new submission. All answers, including the email field, can be mapped into the MailerLite steps.

  2. Step 2Action
    MailerLite Create or Update Subscriber

Adds the submitter as a MailerLite subscriber or updates an existing one with the same address. Map the Jotform email answer, plus any name or custom fields, after import.

  3. Step 3Action
MailerLite Add Subscriber to a Group

Places the subscriber from the previous step into an existing MailerLite group. Pick the group and map the subscriber step 2 returned, then confirm with a test submission.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Jotform AccountAccount
  • MailerLite AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Make the email question required in Jotform, so every submission reaching MailerLite has an address to create the subscriber with.
  • If your form has a newsletter consent checkbox, put a Filter between the Jotform trigger and the Create or Update Subscriber step that continues only when it's ticked. Use your own question and value.
  • Use a separate MailerLite group per Jotform form, so each form's people can get emails that match what they asked for.

Questions about this workflow

Do I have to create the MailerLite group before importing?

Yes. Add Subscriber to a Group works with a group that already exists, so set it up in MailerLite first and select it in step 3.

Can Jotform answers fill MailerLite custom fields?

Yes. The Create or Update Subscriber step supports custom fields. Create the fields in MailerLite, then map the matching Jotform answers into them.

What happens when the Jotform submitter is already on my MailerLite list?

Their subscriber record is updated rather than duplicated, and they're added to the group you set in the last step.
