Add new MakeForms entries to Airtable as new record
When a MakeForms form receives a response, this workflow creates a new record in your Airtable base with the answers you map, so each entry lands in a table you can sort, filter and share.

What this workflow does
Form tools are good at collecting answers and weaker at organising them. Airtable gives you views, linked tables and field types that suit the work that follows a form, such as reviewing applications or tracking requests. This workflow moves each MakeForms response into Airtable as it arrives.
The MakeForms trigger fires when the connected form receives a submission. FlowMattic passes the answers to the Airtable step, which creates a new record in the base and table you choose. You map each answer to the Airtable field it belongs in.
The Airtable step only creates records. It does not look for an earlier record from the same person, so someone who submits twice gets two records. Task History lists each run with the data that was sent, which helps when a record looks wrong or is missing.
Grant or scholarship applications
Applicants fill in a MakeForms application, and each one becomes an Airtable record that reviewers can score and move through a status field.
Customer onboarding questionnaires
New clients answer a MakeForms questionnaire, and the answers go straight into the Airtable base your team uses to plan each project.
Equipment or room requests
Staff request equipment through a MakeForms form, and each request appears as a record in an Airtable table that the office manager works through.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
MakeForms New ResponseFires when your MakeForms form receives a new response. The submitted answers are passed on so you can map them into Airtable.
Airtable Create RecordAdds one new record to whichever Airtable base and table you point it at. Map each MakeForms answer to the matching Airtable field and connect your Airtable account.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- MakeForms AccountAccount
- Airtable AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Match field types before you map: a MakeForms date answer fits an Airtable date field, and a multiple-choice answer fits a single select whose options use the same wording.
- Add a Filter after the trigger if only some responses belong in this table, for example continue only when a consent answer is Yes.
- Send a test response after import so FlowMattic captures the MakeForms answers, then run the workflow once and check the new record in Airtable.
Questions about this workflow
Does a repeat MakeForms submission update the existing Airtable record?
No. The step is Create Record, so each response creates a new record. To merge repeats you would need an extra step that finds the existing record first.
Do my Airtable fields need to match the MakeForms questions?
They don't need the same names, but each answer must be mapped to a field that can hold it. A test run shows quickly whether Airtable accepts the values.
Will older MakeForms responses be added to Airtable?
No. The trigger reacts to responses received after the workflow is turned on. Earlier responses stay in MakeForms.
