Add subscribers to Vbout from new Google Sheet rows

When a new row is added to your Google Sheet, FlowMattic adds that person as a contact on the Vbout list you choose, so a spreadsheet can feed your email marketing.

Google Sheets Vbout

The Add subscribers to Vbout from new Google Sheet rows workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Google Sheets, Vbout
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Many marketing contacts first show up in a Google Sheet: sign-up sheets from events, leads a partner shares, or exports from another tool. Getting them into Vbout usually means a CSV import each time. This workflow adds each new row as it arrives.

The Google Sheets trigger fires when a new row is added to the spreadsheet and sheet you pick, and passes the row's columns on. The Vbout step, Add Contact to List, then adds the person to a Vbout list. It ships unmapped, so after import choose the list and map the email column, plus name or other columns that match your Vbout fields.

Runs begin with rows that appear once the workflow is switched on. Existing rows aren't sent, and edits to a row don't trigger it again. Keep a header row so the column names are clear when you map them, and make sure every row you add has an email.

Add a test row with your own address, then check the list in Vbout and the run in Task History to see what Vbout returned.

Event sign-up sheet

A trade-show team types visitor details into a shared Google Sheet on a tablet, and each visitor lands on the Vbout follow-up list before the day ends.

Partner-supplied leads

A reseller adds referred leads to a sheet you share with them, and each new row joins the Vbout list for partner referrals.

Rows written by another tool

A form tool that only exports to Google Sheets still feeds Vbout, because each row it appends starts a run.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Google Sheets New Spreadsheet Row

Starts the workflow when a new row is added to the Google Sheet you choose. The row's column values are passed on for mapping into Vbout.

  2. Step 2Action
    Vbout Add Contact to List

Adds the person from the row to a Vbout list. The step ships unmapped: pick the list, map the email column and any name columns, then test with a new row.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Google Sheets AccountAccount
  • VBOUT AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Add a Filter between the Google Sheets trigger and the Vbout step that continues only when the email column is not empty, so half-filled rows don't reach Vbout.
  • Add a consent column to the sheet and check it in that Filter too, if the rows come from people who opted in at different times.
  • Follow the Vbout step with Vbout's Add Tags to Contact action, mapping a tag that names the sheet, so you know where each contact came from.
  • Import the rows already in the sheet through Vbout's own import once, since the trigger only picks up rows added later.

Questions about this workflow

Will the rows already in my Google Sheet be added to Vbout?

No. This trigger watches for rows that appear from the moment you activate it. Bring existing rows into Vbout with a one-time import.

Which Vbout list do the contacts join?

The list you pick in Add Contact to List after import. Duplicate the workflow with another sheet and list if you need separate sources.

Do edited Google Sheets rows update the Vbout contact?

No. This trigger is for new rows only. Editing a row after it was added doesn't start another run.
