Create Mailchimp subscribers from new AffiliatePress affiliates for affiliate onboarding

When a new affiliate registers through AffiliatePress, FlowMattic adds them to your Mailchimp audience as a new member, so you can send affiliate onboarding emails from Mailchimp.

The Create Mailchimp subscribers from new AffiliatePress affiliates for affiliate onboarding workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across AffiliatePress, Mailchimp
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

New affiliates need to know how your program works: where to find their link, what they can promote and when they get paid. If you send that through Mailchimp, every new affiliate has to be added to an audience first. This workflow adds them as they register.

The AffiliatePress trigger fires when an affiliate registers on your WordPress site. Their details are passed to FlowMattic. The next step uses Add New Member in Mailchimp to put them on the audience you pick.

The workflow adds the member and nothing more. Any welcome series is something you build in Mailchimp, for example an automation that starts when someone joins that audience. Keep affiliates in their own audience, or mark them in a way your Mailchimp setup supports, so they don't receive your customer newsletters by mistake.

No fields are matched up for you in this template. Register a test affiliate after import and map their email and name into the Mailchimp step. Task History shows each run and any response Mailchimp returns.

Affiliate welcome series

A course creator runs an affiliate program with AffiliatePress. New affiliates join a Mailchimp audience whose automation sends three emails about links, promotion rules and payouts.

Program updates to all affiliates

A store announces commission changes or seasonal campaigns to affiliates only, using the Mailchimp audience this workflow keeps filled.

Promotional material drops

A software company emails banners and swipe copy to its affiliates through Mailchimp each time a new product launches.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    AffiliatePress Affiliate Registered

Runs when someone registers as an affiliate in AffiliatePress on your site. Their registration details become available for mapping in Mailchimp.

  2. Step 2Action
    Mailchimp Add New Member

Adds the new affiliate to Mailchimp as a member of the audience you choose. Connect Mailchimp and map the affiliate's email and name after a test registration.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • AffiliatePress PluginPlugin
  • Mailchimp AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Use a Mailchimp audience just for affiliates, so your onboarding automation and program news never reach ordinary customers.
  • Add a Slack or email step after Mailchimp if you also want to hear about each new affiliate, for example to review their application.
  • Register a test affiliate with your own email after import and confirm they appear in Mailchimp before you promote the sign-up page.

Questions about this workflow

Does this send onboarding emails to AffiliatePress affiliates by itself?

No. It only adds the affiliate to Mailchimp. Build the welcome emails in Mailchimp, for example as an automation for that audience.

What if the affiliate's email is already in my Mailchimp audience?

Add New Member updates the affiliate's existing Mailchimp member with the values you map, so the audience never gets a second entry for the same AffiliatePress address.

Are affiliates who registered before I import this added to Mailchimp?

No. Only registrations after the workflow is turned on start a run. Export earlier affiliates and import them into Mailchimp separately.

Are affiliates still waiting for approval added too?

The trigger is Affiliate Registered, so a run starts at registration. If your program approves affiliates by hand, test it to see when the event fires for your setup.

It's an exceptional product. Works great and extremely valuable. I saved thousands of dollard on Zapier, as Flowmattic makes me able to host the automation myself. And very deeply integrates with the products I need.

Tijn

Ease of use and terrific support from the founder. Tons of integrations and regular updates. The Flowmattic custom app is great especially if you want to integrate apps that aren't available yet inside Flowmattic.
