What this workflow does
YouTube's own alerts depend on subscriptions, the bell setting and the app deciding what to show you. If you need to know reliably when a particular channel posts, whether your own, a client's or a competitor's, a direct push is simpler. This workflow sends one through Pushover.
The YouTube trigger, New Video Published, fires when a new video is published in the channel you specify. The video's details become data you can use in the next step. Pushover then generates a notification to your subscribed devices, with the message you write from those details, such as the video title and link.
Every new upload on that channel sends one notification. To follow more than one channel, clone the workflow and point each copy at a different channel. Task History lists every run, which helps if you think a notification went missing.
Checking your own uploads go live
A creator who schedules videos gets a Pushover alert when each one actually publishes, and can check the video straight away.
Agency watching client channels
A social media manager is pinged when a client's channel posts, so they can share the video on other networks soon after.
Following a competitor or source
Get a push alert whenever a channel you track for research posts something new, without opening YouTube to check.

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Put the video link in the Pushover message, so tapping through from the notification takes you straight to the upload.
- Add a Filter after the trigger if you only care about some uploads, for example videos whose title contains a series name or keyword.
- Clone the workflow for each extra channel you want to watch, and start each message with the channel name so the alerts are easy to tell apart.
Questions about this workflow
Can I watch a YouTube channel I don't own?
Check during setup which channels the trigger lets you specify, then test with a channel that posts often to confirm alerts arrive.
Do I need the Pushover app installed?
Yes. Pushover delivers the notification to the devices registered on your Pushover account, so install it on the phone or desktop where you want alerts.
Will older YouTube videos send Pushover alerts when I turn this on?
No. New Video Published reacts to new uploads, so only videos published after the workflow is on send a notification.
