Log every DailyBot check-in response in a Google Sheets spreadsheet

Each time a teammate completes a DailyBot check-in, this workflow adds their response to a new row in Google Sheets, so every standup answer ends up in one spreadsheet you can sort, filter and share.

DailyBot Google Sheets

2 steps Setup ~5 min Used on 1.2k sites Free to import

The Log every DailyBot check-in response in a Google Sheets spreadsheet workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across DailyBot, Google Sheets
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

DailyBot collects standup answers in chat, which is handy on the day and awkward a month later. Scrolling back through threads to see what someone reported last sprint takes time, and people outside the chat tool can't see the answers at all. A spreadsheet gives you a running record you can search and share.

The DailyBot trigger fires when a check-in response is completed. FlowMattic receives the data DailyBot sends with that response and passes it to the next step. The Google Sheets step then adds one new row to the spreadsheet you pick, with each column filled from the response data you map.

Every completed response gets its own row, so a team of five answering a daily check-in adds five rows a day. The template uses the Completed event only. If someone edits an answer later, that change does not reach the sheet unless you add a step for it. Task History in FlowMattic lists each run, so you can see which response was logged and spot a run where Google Sheets returned an error.

Standup history for sprint reviews

Before a retrospective, filter the sheet by date range to see what each person reported every day of the sprint, without scrolling back through DailyBot threads.

Sharing progress with a client

Share a view of the spreadsheet with a client who has no access to your chat tool, so they can read the team's check-in answers as they come in.

Weekly blocker review

Keep a column for the blockers question and sort it each Friday to see which problems came up more than once during the week.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    DailyBot Check In Response Completed

Fires when a team member completes a DailyBot check-in response. The response data DailyBot sends becomes available to map in the Google Sheets step.

  2. Step 2Action
    Google Sheets Add New Row

Writes the completed check-in to a fresh row at the bottom of your chosen spreadsheet tab. Connect your Google account, then map the check-in data to your columns. Run a test check-in first so the fields show up for mapping.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • DailyBot AccountAccount
  • Google Sheets AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Set up the header row in your spreadsheet before import, for example date, person, and one column per check-in question, so mapping each value to a column is quick.
  • If you run several check-ins in DailyBot, add a Filter after the trigger that continues only for the check-in you want logged, so each sheet holds one kind of answer.
  • To record edited answers too, build a second workflow with DailyBot's Check In Response Updated trigger that writes to a separate tab, so changes sit apart from the original responses.

Questions about this workflow

Does every DailyBot check-in get logged, or only one?

As imported, any completed check-in response that DailyBot sends to FlowMattic adds a row. Add a Filter after the trigger if you want only one check-in logged.

What happens when someone edits a DailyBot response after completing it?

Nothing changes in the sheet. The trigger fires on completed responses only, so the row keeps the answer as it was first submitted.

Which check-in fields can I put in the Google Sheets columns?

Whatever DailyBot includes with the completed response. Complete a test check-in after import, then open the Google Sheets step to see the captured data and map it.

Are past DailyBot check-ins copied into the spreadsheet?

No. Only responses completed after you turn the workflow on are added. Earlier answers stay in DailyBot.
