Log new Formspree submissions in a Google Sheets spreadsheet

Every new Formspree submission becomes a row in a Google Sheets spreadsheet, giving you one running log of form entries that you can sort, filter and share without opening the Formspree dashboard.

Formspree Google Sheets

2 steps Setup ~5 min Used on 1.5k sites Free to import

The Log new Formspree submissions in a Google Sheets spreadsheet workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Formspree, Google Sheets
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Formspree gives a static site or a plain HTML form a backend, and it keeps your entries in its own dashboard. When the people who follow up on those entries work in a spreadsheet, someone has to copy them over. This workflow writes each submission to Google Sheets as it arrives.

The Formspree trigger fires for each new form submission and hands FlowMattic the fields the visitor filled in. The Google Sheets step then adds a new row to the spreadsheet and worksheet you pick, with each column mapped to one of those fields.

That's the whole flow: two steps, no conditions, so every submission gets its own row. Formspree keeps its copy of the entry as before. Task History in FlowMattic lists each run, so you can see which submission produced which row and spot a run where Google returned an error.

Contact form on a static portfolio site

Your Hugo or Jekyll site posts its contact form to Formspree. Each message lands in a sheet you check from your phone, with name, email and message in their own columns.

Waitlist for a product launch

A Formspree sign-up form collects early-access requests, and the sheet becomes the list you sort by date or export when you send invites.

Feedback form shared with a client

Survey answers from a Formspree form fill a spreadsheet you share with the client, so they read responses without needing a Formspree login.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Formspree New Submission

Fires each time Formspree receives a new submission on the connected form. The submitted fields become data you can map in the Google Sheets step.

  2. Step 2Action
    Google Sheets Add New Row

Adds one new row to the spreadsheet and worksheet you choose, filled with the mapped submission fields. Connect your Google account and match each column to a Formspree field.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Formspree AccountAccount
  • Google Sheets AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Put a header row in the sheet before you map the step, with one column per form field plus one for the submission date. Mapping is easier when the columns already have names.
  • Add a Filter after the trigger that stops runs whose email field contains your own domain, so the entries you send while testing the form stay out of the log.
  • For an alert on top of the log, add a Slack Send Channel Message step after Google Sheets that posts the sender's name and message to your team channel.

Questions about this workflow

Does Formspree still keep the submission after it goes to Google Sheets?

Yes. FlowMattic picks up each new Formspree entry as it comes in. It doesn't delete or change anything in Formspree, so the entry stays in your Formspree dashboard and the sheet holds a copy.

Will earlier Formspree submissions be added to the sheet?

No. The trigger reacts to new submissions, so only entries that arrive after you turn the workflow on get a row. Export older entries from Formspree if you want them in the same sheet.

What if I add a new field to my Formspree form later?

Add a matching column to the sheet, send a test submission so FlowMattic sees the new field, then map it in the Google Sheets step. Until you do, that field is left out of the row.

Can two Formspree forms log into one spreadsheet?

Yes. Import the workflow once per form, point each copy at the same spreadsheet, and use separate worksheets or a column that names the form so you can tell entries apart.

An excellent replacement to Zapier with unlimited tasks and full control over data. Customer service is fantastic! Have had hands-on support from owner who is ultra helpful and they have even been integrating new SAAS options continuously.

It's an exceptional product. Works great and extremely valuable. I saved thousands of dollard on Zapier, as Flowmattic makes me able to host the automation myself. And very deeply integrates with the products I need.
