Save every new Formdesk submission to a Google Sheets spreadsheet
Each new Formdesk submission is copied into a new row of the Google Sheets spreadsheet you choose, so every response collects in one place you can sort, chart and share with people outside Formdesk.

What this workflow does
Formdesk keeps responses inside its own account, which suits the person who built the form. Colleagues who only need to read the answers, or who work in spreadsheets, are better served by Google Sheets. Exporting results and pasting them in each week is tedious and leaves the sheet out of date between exports. This workflow writes each response to the sheet as soon as it is submitted.
When someone submits your form, the Formdesk trigger, New Submission, receives it and passes every answer to FlowMattic. The Google Sheets step, Add New Row, then appends a line to the sheet you select, with each answer in the column you mapped it to.
Every submission adds its own row, and the template has no Filter, so test entries and duplicates are written too. Only submissions made after you turn the workflow on are copied. If Google rejects a write, for example because the spreadsheet was moved or access was removed, Task History shows the error for that run.
Registration forms for a club or school
Parents register children through a Formdesk form, and the organiser works from a Google Sheet of every registration without needing a Formdesk login.
Internal request forms
Staff submit equipment or leave requests in Formdesk. The office manager tracks them in a shared spreadsheet with extra columns for notes.
Evaluation forms after training
Participants rate a course in Formdesk, and the trainer charts the scores from the sheet once the session is over.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
Formdesk New SubmissionFires for each new submission to your Formdesk form. All the answers in that submission are passed on so you can map them to spreadsheet columns.
Google Sheets Add New RowAppends one row per Formdesk submission to the spreadsheet and sheet you pick. Connect your Google account and assign each answer to a column.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- Formdesk AccountAccount
- Google Sheets AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Set up the header row in Google Sheets before mapping, with one column per Formdesk question, so the mapping screen shows clear column names.
- Add a column for the submission date if Formdesk sends one, so the sheet can be sorted by when each response arrived.
- Add a Filter after the trigger if only some responses belong in this sheet, for example ones where a particular answer equals a chosen value.
Questions about this workflow
Does every Formdesk submission get its own row?
Yes. The trigger fires once per submission, and Add New Row appends a fresh line each time. Existing rows are never changed.
Can I send several Formdesk forms to one spreadsheet?
Import the workflow once per form, then point each copy at its own tab or at the same sheet. Keep the column order the same if they share a tab.
Are Formdesk responses from before import added?
No. The workflow only acts on new submissions. Export older responses from Formdesk and paste them into the sheet if you need the full history.
What happens if I add a question to the Formdesk form later?
The new answer isn't written until you add a column for it and map it in the Google Sheets step. Send a test submission so the new field shows up for mapping.
