When a Docsumo document status changes, log it in Google Sheets and notify the finance team in Slack
Each time a Docsumo document changes status, this workflow adds a row to Google Sheets with the details and posts a message to the Slack channel your finance team uses.

What this workflow does
Docsumo extracts data from documents such as invoices. While a document moves through processing and review, finance needs to know where it stands, and a running record helps when someone asks later. This workflow writes a spreadsheet row and sends a Slack message for every status change.
The Docsumo trigger fires when a document's status is changed and passes the event data to FlowMattic. Google Sheets then gets a new row, with the values you map, such as the document name and its new status. Finally, the Slack step posts a message to the channel you choose.
One document can change status several times, and each change is a separate run. The sheet therefore becomes a history with one row per change, not one row per document. If finance only cares about certain statuses, a Filter before the Slack step keeps the full log while cutting the messages down.
Supplier invoice processing
Invoices uploaded to Docsumo move through extraction and review. The accounts payable channel sees each change, and the sheet shows how long each invoice took.
Audit trail for document handling
The Google Sheet keeps a dated row for every status change, which you can share with an auditor without giving them Docsumo access.
Spotting documents that need a person
Add a Filter so Slack only hears about a status that means human review is needed, while every change still lands in the sheet.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
Docsumo Document Status ChangeFires whenever the status of a document in your Docsumo account changes. The event data is passed on for the sheet row and the Slack message; a test run shows which values are included.
Google Sheets Add New RowWrites one new row per Docsumo status change into the spreadsheet you pick. Map the document details and the new status to your columns, and add a column for the date.
Slack Send Channel MessagePosts a message to the Slack channel your finance team reads. Build the text from the Docsumo data, such as the document name and its new status.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- Docsumo AccountAccount
- Google Sheets AccountAccount
- Slack AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Put a Filter between Google Sheets and Slack that continues only for the statuses finance needs to act on. Every change still gets a row in the sheet.
- Map the run time into a date column so you can see in the sheet how long each Docsumo document spent in each status.
- Send Channel Message doesn't cover private Slack channels. If finance uses one, replace this step with Slack's Send Private Channel Message action.
Questions about this workflow
Will one Docsumo document create several rows in Google Sheets?
Yes, one per status change. Each change is its own run, so the sheet works as a history of every document's progress.
Does every Docsumo status change send a Slack message?
As imported, yes. There's no Filter, so add one before the Slack step if only some statuses should notify the finance team.
Does the workflow include the extracted invoice data?
Only what Docsumo sends with the status change event. Run a test and check the trigger data in Task History to see which fields you can map.
Can the Docsumo alert go to one person instead of a channel?
Yes. Replace the Slack step with Send Direct Message and choose the person who should receive the updates.
