When a New Announcement Post created in Discord, create image to video in Veo 3 for community video updates
When a message is posted to your Discord announcements channel, FlowMattic sends an image from it to Veo 3 to start an image-to-video generation, the first step toward short video updates for your community.

What this workflow does
Community managers often post an announcement with an image, such as a banner for an event or a screenshot of a new feature. Turning that image into a short clip by hand takes a separate tool and extra time. This workflow starts the clip for you as soon as the announcement is posted.
The Discord trigger, New Message Posted to Channel, watches one text channel. Point it at the channel where you post announcements, since every message posted there starts a run. You map an image from the message into the Veo 3 step, where Image to Video asks Gemini AI to generate a video from that image.
The generation runs on Veo 3's side, and this template ends once it has asked for it. It does not collect the finished video or post it anywhere. Veo 3's Retrieve Video action checks an operation's status and returns the video when it's ready, so add it after a Delay. A message with no image gives Veo 3 nothing to work from; Task History shows what Veo 3 replied for that run.
Game studio patch notes
A studio posts each update in its Discord announcements channel with a key art image, and Veo 3 starts a short clip from that art for the community team to review.
Event reminders for a creator community
When a moderator announces a live stream with a poster image, the poster becomes the source for a Veo 3 video the team can share later.
Product launch teasers
A software company announces a release with a screenshot, and the workflow sends that screenshot to Veo 3 to begin a teaser clip.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
Discord New Message Posted to ChannelFires when a new message is posted to the Discord text channel you pick. Choose your announcements channel, then post a test message with an image to see the data Discord sends.
Veo 3 Image to VideoSends an image to Veo 3 and asks it to generate a video from it with Gemini AI. Map the image from the Discord message and connect your Veo 3 account. The finished video is not fetched in this template.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- Discord AccountAccount
- Veo 3 AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Add a Filter after the trigger that continues only when the message's image or attachment value is not empty, so text-only announcements don't reach Veo 3.
- Add a Delay and then Veo 3's Retrieve Video action to get the finished clip back into FlowMattic for later steps.
- To share the clip with your community, post it with Discord's Send Channel Message action in a different channel from the one the trigger watches, or each post would start another run.
Questions about this workflow
Does the Veo 3 video get posted back to Discord?
No. The template only starts the generation in Veo 3. Add Retrieve Video and a Discord step in another channel if you want the clip shared.
What happens with Discord announcements that have no image?
The run still reaches the Veo 3 step, but it has no image to send, so no video can be generated. Task History shows Veo 3's reply. A Filter on the image value avoids those runs.
Does every message in the Discord channel start a video?
Every message posted to the channel you choose starts a run. Use a channel where only announcements are posted, or add a Filter on the author or content.
