When a new AnyChat form is submitted, add a row in Google Sheets and notify the team in Slack

Each time a visitor submits a form in your AnyChat widget, FlowMattic saves the answers as a new Google Sheets row and posts a message about it to a Slack channel your team watches.

The When a new AnyChat form is submitted, add a row in Google Sheets and notify the team in Slack workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 3 steps across AnyChat, Google Sheets, Slack
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

A form inside a chat widget catches visitors at the moment they have a question, which makes those submissions worth answering quickly. They are also worth keeping. This workflow does both: it records every AnyChat form submission in a spreadsheet and tells your team in Slack that a new one has arrived.

The AnyChat Form Submission trigger fires when a visitor submits the form. The Google Sheets step adds one row with the answers, and the Slack step then posts a message to the channel you choose.

Neither action is mapped in the template. After import, connect Google, pick the spreadsheet and sheet and match the form fields to your columns. Then connect Slack, select the channel and write the message, mapping in details such as the visitor's name, email and message so the team can act without opening the sheet.

Every submission runs both steps, in order: the row first, then the Slack post. Send a test submission through the widget before going live and check Task History for what each step returned.

Sales leads from the website chat

An agency's AnyChat widget asks visitors for their project details; each submission lands in the leads sheet and pings the sales channel in Slack.

Callback requests for a support team

A clinic's chat form collects a phone number and preferred time, and the front-desk channel in Slack sees each request while the sheet keeps the history.

Weekly report on chat form volume

A marketing manager counts rows in the sheet each week to see how many visitors used the chat form, while the team handles each one from Slack.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    AnyChat Form Submission

Fires when a visitor submits the form in your AnyChat widget. The submitted answers are passed to the next two steps; send a test submission to see the field names.

  2. Step 2Action
    Google Sheets Add New Row

Adds one row per submission to the spreadsheet you pick. No columns are mapped in the template, so connect Google, choose the sheet and match each AnyChat form field to a column header.

  3. Step 3Action
    Slack Send Channel Message

Posts a message about the submission to a Slack channel. The step ships unmapped: connect Slack, choose a public channel and write the text with the visitor's details mapped in.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • AnyChat AccountAccount
  • Google Sheets AccountAccount
  • Slack AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Use Slack's Send Private Channel Message action instead if the team channel is private, or Send Direct Message to alert one person.
  • Put a link to the Google Sheet in the Slack message text, so anyone who wants the full history can open it from the alert.
  • Map the submission time into its own column in Google Sheets, so the rows can be sorted by when visitors reached out.

Questions about this workflow

Which AnyChat form fields reach Google Sheets and Slack?

The ones you map. Both actions ship empty, so after a test submission you match the AnyChat answers to sheet columns and pick which ones appear in the Slack message.

Is the AnyChat submission saved if nobody reads the Slack message?

Yes. The Google Sheets row is added before the Slack post, and the sheet keeps every submission whether or not anyone reacts in Slack. Task History lists each run if you need to check one.

Does the AnyChat chat flow trigger this workflow too?

No. This workflow starts on the Form Submission trigger only. FlowMattic's AnyChat integration has a separate Custom Chat Flow Event trigger if you want to react to chat flows.
