When a new contact form submission received in Jotform, create a new lead in MailBluster

Each new Jotform contact form submission creates a lead in MailBluster from the name and email the visitor entered, so people who get in touch are on your email list without a manual import.

Jotform Mailbluster

2 steps Setup ~5 min Used on 3.2k sites Free to import

The When a new contact form submission received in Jotform, create a new lead in MailBluster workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Jotform, Mailbluster
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

People who fill in your contact form are often the ones you most want to email later, but Jotform and MailBluster do not share data on their own. Exporting entries and importing them into MailBluster takes time, and recent ones get missed. This workflow passes each submission over as it arrives.

The Jotform trigger runs when your form receives a new submission and hands every answer to FlowMattic. The second step runs Create a New Lead in MailBluster. You map the visitor's email address and whichever other answers you want on the lead.

There are only two steps and no conditions, so every submission becomes a lead, including ones from people who did not ask for marketing email. If your form has a consent box, add a Filter before MailBluster. Submit a test entry after import to capture the Jotform fields for mapping, and check Task History for MailBluster's reply on each run.

Consultant's enquiry form

A consultant's site uses a Jotform contact form. Each enquiry adds the person to MailBluster, so they can receive the monthly newsletter that follows up on common questions.

Local shop contact page

Customers who send a question through the shop's Jotform end up in MailBluster, ready for the next announcement about opening hours or new stock.

Nonprofit volunteer interest

People who write in through the volunteer contact form become MailBluster leads, so the coordinator can send them upcoming opportunities by email.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Jotform New Form Submission

Runs when a new submission arrives for your Jotform contact form. Each answer from the form can be mapped into the MailBluster step.

  2. Step 2Action
    Mailbluster Create a New Lead

Creates a lead in MailBluster for the person who filled in the Jotform. Connect your MailBluster account and map the email answer and any name answers. A test run shows which lead details the step takes.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Jotform AccountAccount
  • Mailbluster AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Add a Filter after the Jotform trigger that continues only when your marketing consent checkbox is ticked, so only people who opted in become MailBluster leads.
  • Make the email field required in Jotform. A lead without an address cannot be created, and a required field stops empty submissions at the form.
  • Add a Google Sheets step after MailBluster if you also want a running record of every enquiry outside your email tool.

Questions about this workflow

What happens if the Jotform submitter is already a MailBluster lead?

That depends on how MailBluster handles an existing address. Send a test entry with an email already on your list and check Task History for MailBluster's response before relying on it.

Does this work with any Jotform form, not just a contact form?

Yes. The trigger is New Form Submission, so any Jotform form can feed MailBluster. You only need an email answer to map.

Will this Jotform to MailBluster workflow import my old entries?

No. It reacts to new submissions only. Earlier Jotform entries need to be exported and imported into MailBluster separately.

Do I need a MailBluster account to use it?

Yes. The lead is created through your own MailBluster account, which you connect in the second step after importing the workflow.
