When a new conversation is created in ThriveDesk, check if the email is valid with ZeroBounce, and add new member to list in Mailchimp

When a customer opens a new conversation in ThriveDesk, ZeroBounce checks their email address and the person is added to your Mailchimp audience, or updated there if they already belong to it.

The When a new conversation is created in ThriveDesk, check if the email is valid with ZeroBounce, and add new member to list in Mailchimp workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 3 steps across ThriveDesk, ZeroBounce, Mailchimp
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

People who write to your help desk are already customers or close to it. If you also send them product news or onboarding emails, you need their address in Mailchimp, and copying it from each ticket by hand is easy to forget. This workflow takes the address from every new ThriveDesk conversation, checks it, and puts it in your audience.

A run begins when a conversation is created in ThriveDesk. FlowMattic passes the customer's email to ZeroBounce, whose Verify Single Email action returns a verdict on the address. Next, the Add New Member action in Mailchimp puts the person on the list you choose, or updates their details if the address is already there.

The template has no Filter after the ZeroBounce step. Every conversation therefore reaches Mailchimp, whatever the verification says, and the result is only something you can map or record. Add a Filter on the ZeroBounce result if you want failed addresses kept off your list. Each run, with the verification response and Mailchimp's reply, appears in Task History.

SaaS support doubling as onboarding

Trial users who write to support join the Mailchimp audience you use for setup guides and feature emails, without anyone copying them from ThriveDesk.

Store customers asking about orders

Shoppers who contact you through ThriveDesk are added to the list where you announce restocks, once you have their consent to email them.

Cleaning up typed-in support addresses

Customers sometimes mistype their address when they write in. With a Filter added on the ZeroBounce verdict, those addresses stay out of the audience you send product emails to.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    ThriveDesk New Conversation Created

Begins a run whenever a customer starts a new conversation in ThriveDesk. The conversation data, including the customer's email address, is passed to the next steps.

  2. Step 2Action
    ZeroBounce Verify Single Email

Checks the customer's address with ZeroBounce. Map the email from the ThriveDesk conversation and connect your ZeroBounce account. The verification response can be mapped in the Mailchimp step.

  3. Step 3Action
    Mailchimp Add New Member

Adds the customer to the Mailchimp audience you pick, or updates them if their address is already on it. Map the email and any name values from ThriveDesk and connect your Mailchimp account.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • ThriveDesk AccountAccount
  • ZeroBounce AccountAccount
  • Mailchimp AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Place a Filter between ZeroBounce and Mailchimp that continues only when the verification status equals the value ZeroBounce gives a valid address. Support contacts with failing addresses then stay off the list.
  • Only add support contacts to a marketing audience if they agreed to receive your emails. If your ThriveDesk form asks for consent, add a Filter on that answer as well.
  • Start a test conversation in ThriveDesk from your own address after import, so FlowMattic captures the trigger data and the ZeroBounce response before you map Mailchimp.

Questions about this workflow

Does every ThriveDesk conversation add someone to Mailchimp?

Yes, as imported. The ZeroBounce check runs on each one, but nothing acts on the result, so the person is added or updated in Mailchimp regardless. A Filter after the check changes that.

Will a returning ThriveDesk customer be duplicated in Mailchimp?

Add New Member adds a new member, or updates them if they already exist. So a second conversation from the same person refreshes their entry rather than adding another one.

Does a customer's follow-up message in an open ThriveDesk thread trigger this?

No. The trigger is New Conversation Created. Replies and status changes have their own ThriveDesk triggers, which this workflow does not use.

Which accounts does this ThriveDesk workflow need?

A ThriveDesk account for the trigger, a ZeroBounce account for the verification and a Mailchimp account with the audience you want to fill. You connect each one on import.

It's an exceptional product. Works great and extremely valuable. I saved thousands of dollard on Zapier, as Flowmattic makes me able to host the automation myself. And very deeply integrates with the products I need.

Tijn

Ease of use and terrific support from the founder. Tons of integrations and regular updates. The Flowmattic custom app is great especially if you want to integrate apps that aren't available yet inside Flowmattic.
