When a new conversation is created in ThriveDesk, check if the email is valid with Email List Validation, and add new member to list in Mailchimp
Each new ThriveDesk conversation has the customer’s email checked by Email List Validation, then the person is added to your Mailchimp list. As imported, every address goes to Mailchimp whatever the check returns.

What this workflow does
People who write to your help desk are often customers you would like to keep in touch with by email. Copying them from ThriveDesk into Mailchimp by hand is slow, and a mistyped address in a support conversation can end up on your list as a bounce. This workflow runs a check on each address before it reaches Mailchimp.
When a conversation is created in ThriveDesk, FlowMattic receives its details, including the contact who started it when ThriveDesk sends one. The address goes to Email List Validation through its Verify Single Email action, and the response becomes data you can map in the next step. The last step uses Add New Member in Mailchimp, which adds the person to the list or updates them if they are already on it.
There is no Filter between the check and Mailchimp. As imported, every conversation reaches Mailchimp, valid address or not, so the verification result is information only until you add a condition. Each run shows in Task History, with the response from each app.
Product updates for customers who ask for help
Shoppers who open a ThriveDesk conversation about an order join the Mailchimp list you use for product news, with each address run through Email List Validation on the way.
Cleaner audience from a busy support inbox
Once you add a Filter on the verification result, mistyped or disposable addresses from support chats stay out of your Mailchimp audience instead of bouncing later.
Building a list of pre-sales enquirers
Visitors who ask questions before buying are added to a Mailchimp list you set aside for follow-up campaigns about the product they asked about.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
ThriveDesk New Conversation CreatedStarts each time ThriveDesk reports a newly created conversation. Its details, and the contact who started it when ThriveDesk includes one, become available to map in the next two steps.
Email List Validation Verify Single EmailSends the contact's email address from the conversation to Email List Validation to verify it. Connect your Email List Validation account and map the email. The response is then available to the Mailchimp step, but nothing acts on it as imported.
Mailchimp Add New MemberAdds the person to your Mailchimp list, or updates them if they are already a member. Map the email from the ThriveDesk conversation, plus a name if the conversation carries one. Run a test to see which options the step offers.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- ThriveDesk AccountAccount
- Email List Validation AccountAccount
- Mailchimp AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Add a Filter between Email List Validation and Mailchimp that continues only when the result matches the value the service returns for a valid address. Run one test first to see that value in the response.
- Support contacts did not ask for marketing email. Add a Filter on a consent field if ThriveDesk passes one, or send these people to a separate Mailchimp list that you email with care.
- Some conversations may not carry an email, for example one opened by an agent or from a channel without one. Check a test run, and add a Filter that stops runs where the email is empty.
Questions about this workflow
Does ThriveDesk's conversation event always include an email?
Usually the customer's contact details come with the conversation, but it depends on how the conversation started. Run a test after import and check that an email appears before you map it in the later steps.
Will invalid addresses still be added to Mailchimp?
Yes, as imported. The verification response is passed along but no step checks it. Add a Filter after Email List Validation that continues only on a valid result if you want failed addresses left out.
What happens when the person is already in my Mailchimp list?
Add New Member adds a new member or updates the existing one, so a returning customer is not added twice. Fields you map with blank values may overwrite what was there, so map only the ones the conversation reliably fills.
If one customer opens three ThriveDesk conversations, is the address verified three times?
Yes. The trigger fires for every new conversation, so each one runs the verification and the Mailchimp step again for that address.
