When a new lead submits a form, add them to a Mailchimp mailing list

Every Bit Form submission adds the person to your Mailchimp audience as a new member, so leads from your WordPress forms are ready for your campaigns without exporting and importing contacts.

Bit Form Mailchimp

2 steps Setup ~5 min Used on 2.7k sites Free to import

The When a new lead submits a form, add them to a Mailchimp mailing list workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Bit Form, Mailchimp
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Bit Form collects leads on your WordPress site, and Mailchimp is where you email them. Without a link between the two, someone downloads entries and uploads them to Mailchimp, and leads wait days before hearing from you. This workflow adds each new person to Mailchimp when they submit the form.

The Bit Form trigger runs on each new submission and passes the answers to FlowMattic. The Mailchimp step then uses Add New Member to put them in your audience, with the email and any name fields you map from the form.

Every submission is sent to Mailchimp, so use a form built for sign-ups, or add a Filter that checks a consent checkbox. Submit a test entry after import and confirm the new member appears in your Mailchimp audience with the details you expect.

Lead magnet downloads

Visitors fill in a Bit Form to get a checklist or guide, and each one becomes a Mailchimp member who can receive your follow-up campaign.

Webinar or event sign-ups

Registrations made through Bit Form go straight into Mailchimp, so reminder emails can be sent from the same audience.

Quote requests that also join your newsletter

A quote form with a newsletter checkbox and a Filter adds only the people who ticked it to Mailchimp, while the rest are left out.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Bit Form New Form Submission

Runs when a visitor submits a Bit Form on your WordPress site. The answers from that entry are passed on to Mailchimp for mapping.

  2. Step 2Action
    Mailchimp Add New Member

Adds the person to Mailchimp as a new member. Connect your Mailchimp account and map the Bit Form email field, plus name fields if you collect them. A test entry shows what else the step lets you set.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Bit Form PluginPlugin
  • Mailchimp AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • If your form has a consent checkbox, add a Filter after the trigger that continues only when it is ticked, so only people who agreed are added to Mailchimp.
  • Make the email field required in Bit Form so every run has an address to give Mailchimp.
  • Add a Google Sheets step after Mailchimp to keep your own record of every lead the form sends.

Questions about this workflow

What happens if the Bit Form lead is already in my Mailchimp audience?

Add New Member updates the existing member rather than adding a second one. The Bit Form values you map replace the ones Mailchimp held for that address.

Does Bit Form still store the entry?

Yes. The workflow starts after the form is submitted, so Bit Form handles and stores the entry as usual.

Are older Bit Form entries added to Mailchimp?

No. Only submissions made after you turn the workflow on start a run.

Can new members go into a Mailchimp audience other than my main one?

Open the Mailchimp step after connecting your account and run a test to see the audience options it offers, then choose the one you want.
