The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Mailbluster is where your email campaigns go out, but the people who fill in your Contact Form 7 forms don't get there on their own. Exporting submissions and importing them in batches leaves gaps. This workflow passes each submitter to Mailbluster as a lead.

The Contact Form 7 trigger fires when a visitor submits the form you choose on your WordPress site. FlowMattic then runs Create a New Lead in Mailbluster. You map the email field from the form into the lead, along with any name fields you ask for.

Each submission makes one call to Mailbluster. Check how Mailbluster treats an address it already has by sending a test with an existing lead, and look at the response in Task History. That log also shows every submission the workflow passed on.

Blog subscriber form

A Contact Form 7 form in your sidebar collects readers' emails. Each one becomes a Mailbluster lead for your weekly article email.

Product waitlist

Visitors join a waitlist through a short form. Mailbluster holds the list so you can email everyone when the product opens.

Webinar interest form

People register interest in a future session. The leads in Mailbluster receive the invitation once a date is set.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
Contact Form 7 New Form Submission

Runs when a visitor submits the Contact Form 7 form you pick. The form's fields are passed to the Mailbluster step.

  2. Step 2Action
    Mailbluster Create a New Lead

Creates a new lead in Mailbluster from the submission. Map the form's email field and any name fields, then confirm the lead appears with a test submission.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Contact Form 7 PluginPlugin
  • Mailbluster AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Require the email field in Contact Form 7 with the email* tag so every lead sent to Mailbluster has an address.
  • If the form has a newsletter checkbox, add a Filter after the trigger so only people who ticked it become Mailbluster leads.
  • Clone the workflow for each extra Contact Form 7 form you want feeding Mailbluster, and pick that form in the copy's trigger.

Contact Form 7 on the same WordPress site as FlowMattic, and a Mailbluster account to connect in the second step.

It's very straightforward, has a lot integrations and they work well. It is one thing to 'integrate' new external software, but integrating it well, with lots of options is where FlowMattic shines.
