What this workflow does
Formidable Forms collects entries on your WordPress site, and MailBluster is where you send your campaigns. Without a link between them, every new sign-up has to be exported and imported before it can get your emails. This workflow creates the MailBluster lead from each entry instead.
When a visitor submits a Formidable Forms form, the trigger captures the entry's field values. FlowMattic passes the ones you map to MailBluster, where the Create a New Lead action adds that person to your account. The email field is the one that matters most; name fields can come along too if your form asks for them.
Every entry runs the step, so the same person submitting twice sends MailBluster two create requests. How MailBluster treats an address it already holds is up to MailBluster, so test it with a known address and check Task History for the response. Formidable keeps its own entries and notification emails as before.
Newsletter sign-up in a footer form
A short Formidable Forms sign-up form adds each visitor to MailBluster, ready for the next issue of your newsletter.
Free download in exchange for an email
Visitors request a checklist through a Formidable form, and their address becomes a MailBluster lead you can follow up with later.
Contact form with an opt-in box
Pair the workflow with a Filter on a consent checkbox so only enquirers who ticked it are added to MailBluster.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
Formidable Forms New Form SubmissionRuns when someone submits a Formidable Forms form on your site. The entry's field values are captured for mapping into MailBluster.
Mailbluster Create a New LeadCreates a new lead in MailBluster from the entry. Connect your MailBluster account and map the form's email field, plus name fields if your form collects them.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- Formidable Forms PluginPlugin
- Mailbluster AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Make the email field required in your Formidable form so every entry reaches MailBluster with an address to create the lead from.
- Add a Filter after the trigger that continues only when a consent checkbox is ticked, so people who did not opt in stay out of your MailBluster list.
- Submit a test entry after import so FlowMattic captures the Formidable field names, then complete the mapping in the MailBluster step.
Questions about this workflow
A Formidable entry uses an address MailBluster already has. What then?
The step always asks MailBluster to create a new lead. Whether it rejects, updates or ignores a known address is decided by MailBluster, so submit a test entry with an existing address and read the response in Task History.
Do I need Formidable Forms Pro for this workflow?
You need Formidable Forms installed on the same WordPress site as FlowMattic, with a form that collects an email address. Build the form you want first, then connect it to the trigger.
Are past Formidable entries sent to MailBluster?
No. Only entries submitted after the workflow is switched on create MailBluster leads. Export older entries separately if you want them in your list.
