When new form submission is received in WSForms, add a new subscriber in Mailchimp
Each WS Form submission on your WordPress site sends the visitor’s details to Mailchimp, which adds them to your audience or updates them if they’re already a member.

What this workflow does
Newsletter sign-ups, quote requests and event forms built with WS Form all collect email addresses you probably want in Mailchimp. Exporting entries and importing them later leaves gaps and delays. This workflow sends each submission to Mailchimp as it arrives, so new contacts are ready for your next campaign.
The WSForms trigger fires when a new form submission is received and passes the submitted fields on. The Mailchimp Add New Member step then adds the person to the list you pick, or updates them if they already exist there. An address that is already in your audience doesn't create a duplicate.
No fields come mapped in the Mailchimp step. After import you connect your Mailchimp account, choose the audience, and map the form's email field, plus first and last name or any other fields you want stored with the member. Send a test with your own address and look at the member in Mailchimp to confirm how they were added.
Every submission of the form you connect starts a run. If the form also handles enquiries from people who didn't ask for email, add a consent field and a Filter, as described in the tips. Send a test entry and look at Task History for Mailchimp's response.
Newsletter sign-up form in the footer
A blog builds its footer sign-up with WS Form and wants every address in the Mailchimp audience that receives the weekly digest.
Event registrations for follow-up campaigns
A venue's booking enquiry form feeds Mailchimp, so people who asked about one event hear about the next season's programme.
Lead magnet downloads
A consultant offers a free guide behind a WS Form, and each person who requests it joins the Mailchimp audience used for the welcome series.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
WSForms New Form SubmissionStarts a run when WS Form receives a new submission. The values entered, such as the email address and name, are passed to Mailchimp for mapping.
Mailchimp Add New MemberAdds the person to your Mailchimp list, or updates them if they're already a member. The step ships unmapped: connect Mailchimp, choose the audience and map the email and name fields from the form.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- WSForms PluginPlugin
- Mailchimp AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Add a marketing consent checkbox to the WS Form, then put a Filter between the trigger and the Mailchimp step that continues only when it's ticked. Use whatever name you gave the checkbox.
- Map a hidden form field that records the page or offer into a Mailchimp merge field, so you can see where each member signed up.
- Map the visitor's first name into Mailchimp's first-name merge field, so your campaigns can greet each new member by name.
Questions about this workflow
What if the WS Form visitor is already on my Mailchimp list?
Mailchimp's Add New Member action adds new addresses and updates members it already has, so no duplicate is created. The existing member is updated with the values you mapped.
Can I send different WS Form forms to different Mailchimp audiences?
Yes. Import the workflow once per form, connect each copy's trigger to its own form, and choose a different audience in each Mailchimp step.
Will WS Form visitors get a Mailchimp confirmation email?
It depends on how the member is added and on your audience's own settings. Submit the form with your own address and check the member's status in Mailchimp.
Which WS Form fields reach Mailchimp?
Only the ones you map. The Add New Member step is empty in the template, so choose the email field and any merge fields you want filled.
