Send a Slack alert whenever a Northpass course is published
Whenever a course version is published in Northpass, FlowMattic posts a message to the Slack channel you choose, so trainers, managers and support staff know that new or revised training content is now live.

What this workflow does
When an L&D team publishes training, the people who should point learners to it often find out late. This workflow announces each published course in Slack, so customer success, sales enablement or team leads can share it the same day.
The Northpass trigger fires when a new course version is published. That covers a brand-new course and also a fresh version of an existing one, so republishing an updated course posts again. The course details Northpass sends, such as its name, are passed on; a test publish shows the exact fields.
The Slack step posts a message to a specific #channel. It ships unmapped: after import, connect your Slack workspace, pick the channel and write the message, mapping in the course name and any link or description Northpass provides.
Because each publish is a separate event, a busy week of course edits can produce several messages. Word the message so it reads well for both new courses and updates, for example "Course published or updated". Open Task History to see every Northpass publish that ran and Slack's reply to it.
Customer education launches
A SaaS company's academy team publishes a new product course, and the customer success channel sees it at once so account managers can send it to clients.
Partner training updates
A channel team posts revised partner certification courses to a #partner-enablement channel each time a new version goes live in Northpass.
Internal onboarding refreshes
An HR team updates its onboarding course and the people managers' channel is told, so new hires are pointed to the current version.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
Northpass Course PublishedFires when a course version is published in Northpass, whether it's a new course or a new version of an existing one. The course data from Northpass is passed to the Slack step.
Slack Send Channel MessagePosts a message about the published course to the Slack channel you choose. Write the message after import and map the course name and other Northpass details into it.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- Northpass AccountAccount
- Slack AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Point the message at a private channel by switching the step to Slack's Send Private Channel Message action, since Send Channel Message is for regular channels.
- Include the course link in the Slack message if Northpass sends one, so people can open the course straight from the alert. A test publish shows whether it's there.
- To announce only some courses, put a Filter between the Northpass trigger and the Slack step on the course name, for example one that contains a word such as onboarding. Adjust the value to your own naming.
Questions about this workflow
Does publishing an updated Northpass course post to Slack again?
Yes. FlowMattic describes this event as firing when a new course version is published, so each new version of a course sends another Slack message.
Which course details appear in the Slack message?
Only the ones you map. The Slack step ships with an empty message, so after import write it and add the course fields Northpass sends, such as the name.
Can I send the alert to several Slack channels?
Add another Send Channel Message step after the first one and choose a different channel in it. Both channels then get a post about the same course.
