Add new Exly captured leads to a Mailchimp audience for nurturing

Each lead Exly captures is added to the Mailchimp audience you pick, or updated there if they are already a member, so you can send your nurture emails to people who showed interest in your Exly offerings.

The Add new Exly captured leads to a Mailchimp audience for nurturing workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Exly, Mailchimp
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Exly collects leads from people who show interest in your classes, workshops or digital offerings but haven't booked yet. Those people are the audience for a series of emails, and that series usually lives in Mailchimp. Moving leads between the two by export and import leaves them waiting. This workflow passes each lead over when Exly captures it.

The Exly trigger, Lead Captured, fires when a new lead is captured. The lead's details, such as name and email if a test run shows them, are passed to Mailchimp. The Add New Member step adds the lead to the audience you choose. When the email address is already a member, Mailchimp updates that member rather than adding them twice.

From there, a Mailchimp automation that starts when someone joins the audience can send your nurture sequence. If a person is captured as a lead again later, the step refreshes their member record; mapped fields that come through empty that time may replace data you had. Task History shows Mailchimp's response for each lead.

Yoga teacher promoting a new batch

People who enquire about classes on Exly join a Mailchimp audience that sends a schedule, a teacher introduction and a reminder before the batch starts.

Creator selling a cohort course

Leads from the course page land in Mailchimp, where a short series explains the curriculum and shares the enrollment link.

Coach offering discovery calls

Each Exly lead is added to an audience that emails them a booking link and a few client stories over the following days.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Exly Lead Captured

Fires when Exly captures a new lead. The lead's details are passed on so you can map them into the Mailchimp member record.

  2. Step 2Action
    Mailchimp Add New Member

Puts the Exly lead into the Mailchimp audience you select; an address already on it is updated instead. Map the email and name from Exly and connect your Mailchimp account after import.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Exly AccountAccount
  • Mailchimp AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Give Exly leads their own Mailchimp audience if your main list holds other contacts, so a nurture automation on that audience reaches only them.
  • Pair this with a second workflow on Exly's Booking Received trigger, so people who later book are also added to a customer audience in Mailchimp.
  • Capture a test lead on your Exly page after import so FlowMattic picks up the lead fields before you map them.

Questions about this workflow

What if an Exly lead is already in my Mailchimp audience?

The member is updated, not duplicated. Add New Member adds new addresses and updates existing ones with the details mapped from the lead.

Does this send the nurture emails as well?

No. The workflow adds people to the audience. The emails come from whatever automation or campaign you set up in Mailchimp for that audience.

Are Exly bookings added to Mailchimp too?

Not by this workflow. It runs only on Lead Captured. Exly's Booking Received trigger is separate and can drive its own workflow.

Will Exly leads need to confirm their Mailchimp subscription?

That depends on your audience and the Mailchimp step's options. Capture a lead with your own email after import to see whether a confirmation message arrives.

The software works really well, and the team is adding integrations constantly, so I'm positive it eventually will catch up with Zapier. The flows are very easy to create and if you have any doubt, the team will give you great support.
