Add new 99Inbound submissions to a Mailchimp audience for follow-up

Each new 99Inbound form submission is added to your Mailchimp audience as a member, or updates the member if the address is already there, so form contacts are ready for your follow-up emails.

The Add new 99Inbound submissions to a Mailchimp audience for follow-up workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across 99Inbound, Mailchimp
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

99Inbound collects form submissions for static sites and landing pages, but those contacts still need to reach your email list before you can follow up. Downloading entries and importing them into Mailchimp leaves people waiting. This workflow sends each submitter to Mailchimp when the form is sent.

A run starts as soon as 99Inbound receives a submission on your form, and every answer in it comes along. The Mailchimp step then runs Add New Member, which adds the person to the audience you pick, or updates them if they are already a member. Map the form's email field to the member email, and any name fields you collect.

Every submission runs the step, so someone who fills in the form twice is updated rather than added again. Any welcome email or automation you have set up in Mailchimp then handles the follow-up from there.

Static site contact form

A designer's portfolio built as a static site uses 99Inbound for its contact form, and every enquirer joins a Mailchimp audience for occasional updates.

Landing page waitlist

A product launch page collects waitlist sign-ups through 99Inbound, and each one is added to the Mailchimp audience you will email on launch day.

Event interest form

People who ask for event details through a 99Inbound form become Mailchimp members, so your event announcements reach them.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    99Inbound New Form Submission

Starts a run when a new submission arrives on your 99Inbound form. All submitted fields can be mapped in the Mailchimp step.

  2. Step 2Action
    Mailchimp Add New Member

Adds the submitter to your chosen Mailchimp audience, or updates the existing member with that address. Link your Mailchimp account, then put the 99Inbound email answer in the member email.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • 99Inbound AccountAccount
  • Mailchimp AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Send a test entry through your 99Inbound form after import, so FlowMattic captures its fields and you can map the email address into the Mailchimp step.
  • If the form has a newsletter consent checkbox, add a Filter after the trigger that continues only when it is ticked, so only people who agreed join the audience.
  • Using several 99Inbound forms? Duplicate the workflow per form and point each copy at a different Mailchimp audience, or add a Router on a field that names the form, if one is sent.

Questions about this workflow

What happens when a 99Inbound submitter is already in my Mailchimp audience?

Add New Member updates the person rather than adding them twice. Values from the new submission can overwrite the stored ones, including with blanks, so map only fields you want refreshed.

Will Mailchimp send its own welcome email to new members?

Only if you have set one up in Mailchimp. FlowMattic only places the person on the list; any welcome email or journey runs from your Mailchimp account settings.

Are older 99Inbound submissions added to Mailchimp?

No. The trigger reacts to submissions received after you turn the workflow on. Export earlier entries from 99Inbound and import them into Mailchimp yourself.

Can I tag 99Inbound contacts in Mailchimp?

Yes. Add Mailchimp's Add Member Tag action after the Add New Member step and map the same email address, so each submitter gets the tag you choose.

Was spending much more on Zapier and running out of tasks, now have unlimited tasks. Team is continuing to add integrations and taking feedback. Creator of company is ultra responsive to emails and helpful always.

It's an exceptional product. Works great and extremely valuable. I saved thousands of dollard on Zapier, as Flowmattic makes me able to host the automation myself. And very deeply integrates with the products I need.
