Add a new Clarityflow contact to a Mailchimp audience after a purchase is made

Each purchase made in Clarityflow adds the buyer to a Mailchimp audience you choose, or updates them if they are already a member, so your coaching clients are on your email list from the moment they pay.

The Add a new Clarityflow contact to a Mailchimp audience after a purchase is made workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Clarityflow, Mailchimp
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Coaches and consultants sell programs and sessions in Clarityflow, then keep in touch through email. If buyers only reach Mailchimp when you remember to export them, your welcome emails and program updates arrive late. This workflow sends each buyer to your audience right after the purchase.

The Clarityflow trigger fires when a new purchase is made. FlowMattic receives the purchase details and passes them to Mailchimp, where the Add New Member action adds the buyer to the audience you select. If that email address is already a member, Mailchimp updates the existing record instead of creating a second one.

The trigger is a purchase, not a new-contact event, so a client who buys again runs the workflow again. They are not duplicated; their member record is simply updated with the values you map. Map the buyer's email from the purchase data and confirm it with a test purchase before you rely on the workflow.

Welcome sequence for new coaching clients

When someone buys a coaching package in Clarityflow, they join a Mailchimp audience that runs your onboarding emails.

Course or program buyers

Buyers of a group program are added to Mailchimp, so you can send session schedules and resources to everyone who paid.

Repeat clients kept current

A returning client who buys another package is updated in Mailchimp rather than added twice, keeping one record per person.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Clarityflow Purchase Made

Fires when a new purchase is made in Clarityflow. The purchase and buyer details become data you can map into Mailchimp.

  2. Step 2Action
    Mailchimp Add New Member

Adds the buyer to your chosen Mailchimp audience, or updates them if their email is already there. Connect your Mailchimp account, pick the audience and map the buyer's email from the purchase.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Clarityflow AccountAccount
  • Mailchimp AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • If several Clarityflow offers feed different audiences, add a Router with a condition on the offer and give each route its own Add New Member step.
  • Add a Filter that continues only for a specific Clarityflow product, if just one offer should add buyers to this audience.
  • Make a test purchase, or use one you already have, after import so FlowMattic captures the purchase fields before you finish the Mailchimp mapping.

Questions about this workflow

What if the Clarityflow buyer is already in my Mailchimp audience?

Mailchimp's Add New Member action updates the existing member instead of adding a duplicate, so the person stays in your audience once.

Does a second Clarityflow purchase by the same client trigger the workflow again?

Yes. Every purchase starts a run. Because Mailchimp matches by email, the client's existing member record is updated rather than duplicated.

Are past Clarityflow purchases sent to Mailchimp?

No. Clarityflow sales from before the workflow was active are not picked up, so add those buyers to Mailchimp yourself if you want them.

Does this send an email to the Clarityflow buyer?

Not from FlowMattic. Any welcome email comes from automations or campaigns you set up in Mailchimp for that audience.

It's an exceptional product. Works great and extremely valuable. I saved thousands of dollard on Zapier, as Flowmattic makes me able to host the automation myself. And very deeply integrates with the products I need.
