What this workflow does
Writing a reply or a follow-up from scratch takes time, and handing the whole job to AI is risky when the message goes to a customer. This workflow sits in the middle. OpenAI writes the copy, and the result waits in your Gmail drafts until you have read and edited it.
The Email Parser by FlowMattic trigger fires when an email arrives at your parser address, and the parsed parts of that email become data you can map. The OpenAI (ChatGPT) step runs Generate Content with a prompt you write, into which you place parts of the email, such as its body. Its response then goes to Gmail, where Create Draft saves a draft built from the values you map.
Nothing is sent automatically. The draft sits in Gmail until you open it, change what you need, and send it yourself. Because every parsed email starts a run, decide which messages you send to the parser address. Task History shows the prompt sent to OpenAI and the text it returned for each email.

- Add a Filter after the Email Parser trigger that continues only when the subject contains a tag you choose, so only emails you mark get an AI draft.
- If the draft step takes a recipient, map the original sender's address from the parsed email so each draft is already addressed to the person who wrote in.

No. The last step is Gmail Create Draft, so the copy waits in your drafts. You read it, edit it, and send it yourself.
Do I need an OpenAI API account as well as Gmail?
Yes. The Generate Content step runs through the OpenAI account you connect in FlowMattic, and your Gmail account is connected separately for the draft.
Which emails reach the Email Parser trigger?
Only emails sent or forwarded to your Email Parser by FlowMattic address. Your normal Gmail inbox is not read by this workflow.
Will the Gmail draft be in the same thread as the original email?
Not necessarily. Create Draft saves a draft built from what you map. Run a test and check in Gmail how the draft is saved.
