Create a Dropbox file request when a FluentCart order is paid and send the link on WhatsApp
When a FluentCart order is paid, FlowMattic creates a Dropbox file request for the customer’s uploads and sends its link in a WhatsApp text, so buyers can hand over their files straight away.

What this workflow does
Print shops, photo editors and designers who sell through FluentCart usually need files from the buyer before they can start: artwork, photos, documents. Chasing those files by email slows every order down. This workflow gives each paying customer an upload link the moment the payment completes.
The FluentCart Order Paid trigger fires when an order's payment is completed and passes the order and customer details on. The Dropbox Create File Request step then makes a file request, a page where people without a Dropbox account can upload files into your Dropbox. The step ships unmapped, so after import connect Dropbox and set up the request, for example with the order number in its title so each customer's files stay apart.
The last step sends a WhatsApp Cloud API text that reads "Thanks for your order. Upload your files here:" followed by the file request link from Dropbox. The recipient isn't set, so map the customer's phone number from the order.
WhatsApp only delivers free-form text within 24 hours of the person last messaging your business number, so many new buyers won't receive this message. For them, switch the step to Send Template Message with an approved template that carries the link.
Print-on-demand artwork
A print shop selling custom posters through FluentCart asks each paying buyer for their high-resolution artwork through a Dropbox upload link.
Photo retouching orders
A retouching service collects the photos to edit right after checkout, with each order's files landing in its own Dropbox request.
Document review services
A CV-writing service gets a client's current CV and job ads through the file request as soon as the payment goes through.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
FluentCart Order PaidStarts the workflow when a FluentCart order's payment is completed. The order and customer details, including the phone number if your checkout collects it, are passed on.
Dropbox Create File RequestCreates a Dropbox file request that lets the buyer upload files into your Dropbox without an account. Set it up after import, for example naming it after the order number.
WhatsApp Cloud API Send Text MessageSends a WhatsApp text thanking the customer and giving them the Dropbox upload link. Map the customer's phone number as the recipient; the message text is already written.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- FluentCart PluginPlugin
- Dropbox AccountAccount
- WhatsApp Cloud API AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Switch the WhatsApp step to Send Template Message with an approved template containing the upload link, so buyers who haven't messaged you in the last 24 hours still get it.
- Include the order number and customer name in the file request's title, so you can tell which upload belongs to which order in Dropbox.
- Put a Filter between the FluentCart trigger and the Dropbox step that continues only for products that need customer files, if your store also sells items that don't.
- Ask for phone numbers with the country code at checkout, since WhatsApp needs the full international number.
Questions about this workflow
Does the customer need a Dropbox account to upload files?
No. A Dropbox file request lets anyone with the link upload files into your Dropbox, and the files land in your account.
Will every FluentCart buyer get the WhatsApp message?
Not always. A free-form text only reaches people who messaged your WhatsApp business number in the last 24 hours, and the number must be valid. Use an approved template message to reach other buyers.
Does each FluentCart order get its own Dropbox file request?
Yes. Every paid order starts a run and the Create File Request step makes a new request each time. Name it after the order so the requests are easy to tell apart.
Can I send the upload link by email too?
Yes. Add an Email step after the Dropbox step, send it to the order's email address and map the file request link into the message.
