Create or update FluentCRM contact for every new lead received from Continually
When Continual.ly posts a new lead to your FlowMattic webhook URL, this workflow creates a FluentCRM contact for that person, or updates the existing contact with the same email address.

What this workflow does
A lead captured in Continual.ly is only useful once you can follow up with them. If your email marketing runs on FluentCRM, moving each lead across by hand is slow and easy to forget. This workflow puts every lead Continual.ly sends into FluentCRM without that copying.
Continual.ly leads arrive through a Webhook trigger with its own FlowMattic URL, and you configure Continual.ly to post each new lead there. FlowMattic's own Continual.ly trigger, External API Request, is also a receiver of this kind, so the generic webhook gives the same result. Each request starts one run, and its fields become data you can map.
Next, FluentCRM runs Create or Update Contact. It matches on the email address: a new address becomes a new contact, and a known one updates the contact already in your CRM. Since FluentCRM lives inside WordPress, the contact is stored on your own site, and Task History shows what each run sent.
Follow-up sequences for chat leads
Leads posted from Continual.ly become FluentCRM contacts, so you can add them to a list or tag and send your follow-up emails from WordPress.
A returning visitor leaves new details
Someone already in FluentCRM talks to Continual.ly again and gives a phone number. The contact with that email address is updated instead of copied.
One CRM for site and chat contacts
Your forms already feed FluentCRM. Adding Continual.ly leads through this webhook keeps chat prospects in the same contact list as everyone else.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
Webhook Capture Webhook ResponseProvides a unique webhook URL and waits for requests. Point Continual.ly at this URL so it posts each new lead here. Every field in the request becomes available for the FluentCRM step.
FluentCRM Create or Update ContactCreates a FluentCRM contact from the lead, or updates the existing contact that has the same email address. Map the email from the webhook data, plus any name or other details Continual.ly sends.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- FluentCRM PluginPlugin
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Post one test lead from Continual.ly to the webhook URL right after import. FlowMattic records the request, and you can then map its real fields into the FluentCRM step.
- Put a Filter between the two steps that continues only when the email field is not empty. FluentCRM matches contacts by email, so requests without one have nothing to match on.
- Want a spreadsheet copy too? Add a Google Sheets Add New Row step after FluentCRM and map the same webhook fields to its columns.
Questions about this workflow
Does FlowMattic have a Continual.ly trigger I should use instead?
Its only Continual.ly trigger is External API Request, which also just waits for Continual.ly to send data. The Webhook trigger works the same way, so you give Continual.ly the webhook URL and nothing is lost.
What happens when the lead is already a FluentCRM contact?
Create or Update Contact matches on email address. If a contact with that email exists, FluentCRM updates it with the mapped details instead of adding a second contact.
Where are the Continual.ly contacts stored in FluentCRM?
In the FluentCRM plugin on the WordPress site that runs FlowMattic. The step uses the FluentCRM plugin directly, so no contact data leaves your site at this step.
Which lead details can I send to FluentCRM?
Only what Continual.ly includes in its request to the webhook URL. Send a test lead, look at the captured data, and map the fields you find into the FluentCRM step.
