What this workflow does

Content planners often keep keyword lists in spreadsheets, then open each topic in NeuronWriter by hand and paste the link to the writer. This workflow takes a CSV file sent to a webhook and turns its data into a NeuronWriter query, with the link landing in Slack for the team.

A Webhook trigger receives the request. The payload should carry the address of the CSV file, either on your WordPress site or at a remote URL. The CSV Parser step reads that file and returns its rows as JSON data. The NeuronWriter step creates a new content writer query for the keyword, language and search engine you map from those rows. Last, the Slack step posts a message to the channel you pick, with a link from the NeuronWriter response.

As imported, each run creates one query, from the row values you map. A file with twenty keywords still produces a single query unless you add an Iterator after the parser. Check a test run to see which links NeuronWriter returns, and map the read-only one into the Slack message.

Keyword briefs from an SEO export

An SEO lead exports a keyword file, posts its link to the webhook, and the writers' Slack channel receives the NeuronWriter query link to start the brief.

Client topic requests

A client portal sends the URL of an uploaded topics CSV to the webhook. The query opens in your NeuronWriter account and the account manager's channel gets the link.

Agency content calendar hand-off

A planning tool exports the next article's keyword, language and engine as a CSV. Posting it creates the query and shares the read-only view with freelancers in Slack.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Webhook Capture Webhook Response

Gives you a unique webhook URL that starts the workflow whenever a request reaches it. Send a test request with the CSV file's URL in the payload so the next step has a link to map.

  2. Step 2Action
CSV Parser by FlowMattic Parse CSV File

Reads the CSV file at the URL you map from the webhook and returns its contents as JSON data. Those values become available to map into the NeuronWriter step.

  3. Step 3Action
    NeuronWriter New Query

Creates a new content writer query in NeuronWriter. Map the keyword, language and search engine from the parsed CSV data and connect your NeuronWriter account.

  4. Step 4Action
    Slack Send Channel Message

Sends your team a Slack channel message that you write, with the read-only query link mapped in from the NeuronWriter response shown in your test run.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • NeuronWriter AccountAccount
  • Slack AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • To create a query for every row in the file, add an Iterator after the CSV Parser and place the NeuronWriter and Slack steps inside it. Each row then gets its own query and message.
  • Turn on the Webhook trigger's Require authentication on incoming requests setting so only senders with your key can start runs that open NeuronWriter queries.
  • Send the link to one person instead of a channel by swapping in Slack's Send Direct Message action, or use Send Private Channel Message for a private channel.

Questions about this workflow

Can I upload the CSV straight to the webhook?

The CSV Parser reads a file from a URL, so the webhook payload should contain the file's address, on your WordPress site or another host. Send a test request first and map that value in the parser step.

Does every keyword in the CSV become a NeuronWriter query?

Not as imported. The NeuronWriter step runs once per webhook request with the values you map, so you get one query. Add an Iterator after the parser if you want one query per row.

Which NeuronWriter link reaches Slack?

The one you map. After a test run, open the NeuronWriter step's response, pick the read-only link it returns and place it in the Slack message text.

Can anyone with the webhook URL start a run?

As imported, yes. Once you switch on authentication in the Webhook trigger, a request must send your authentication key before FlowMattic runs the workflow.

It's an exceptional product. Works great and extremely valuable. I saved thousands of dollard on Zapier, as Flowmattic makes me able to host the automation myself. And very deeply integrates with the products I need.

Tijn

Ease of use and terrific support from the founder. Tons of integrations and regular updates. The Flowmattic custom app is great especially if you want to integrate apps that aren't available yet inside Flowmattic.
