Each new Form.io submission adds the submitter to the Mailchimp audience you pick, or updates them if they are already on it, so people who fill in your form are ready for your next campaign.

Form.io Mailchimp

2 steps Setup ~5 min Used on 2.5k sites Free to import

The Subscribe new Form.io submitters to a Mailchimp audience workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Form.io, Mailchimp
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Form.io collects the answers, but your newsletter lives in Mailchimp. Exporting submissions and importing them into an audience is slow, and it is easy to forget a batch. This workflow moves each submitter across as soon as Form.io records the entry.

The Form.io trigger fires when a new submission arrives on the form you connect. FlowMattic hands the submitted values to Mailchimp, where the Add New Member action puts the person on your chosen audience. If that address is already a member, Mailchimp updates them rather than adding a copy.

You decide which Form.io field holds the email address and which other answers, such as a name, go into the member's details. Nothing is filtered as imported, so every submission reaches Mailchimp. Task History lists each run with the data Mailchimp received and its reply.

Grow a list from a Form.io registration form

A training provider uses a Form.io form for course registrations and wants every registrant on the Mailchimp audience that receives course news.

Feed an app's sign-up form into Mailchimp

Your web app embeds a Form.io form for early access requests. Each request puts the person on the audience you email when the beta opens.

Refresh details of returning submitters

Someone who already subscribed fills in a new form with an updated name. Mailchimp updates their member record instead of creating a second entry.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Form.io New Form Submission

Starts each time someone completes your linked Form.io form for a future mailing. The submitted values are passed on, ready to map into the Mailchimp step.

  2. Step 2Action
    Mailchimp Add New Member

Adds the submitter to the Mailchimp audience you choose, or updates them if they already exist there. Map the Form.io email field, and any name fields you collect, into this step.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Form.io AccountAccount
  • Mailchimp AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Add a Filter after the trigger that continues only when your Form.io consent checkbox is ticked, so only people who agreed to marketing email reach Mailchimp.
  • Submit one test entry after import so FlowMattic captures the Form.io fields, then map them in the Mailchimp step before you switch the workflow on.
  • Using several Form.io forms? Import a copy of this workflow for each form, each pointing at its own Mailchimp audience if the lists differ.

Questions about this workflow

What happens if the Form.io submitter is already in my Mailchimp audience?

Because Add New Member works as add-or-update, an existing address keeps a single member record on that audience. Their details are refreshed from the new submission.

Does every Form.io submission reach Mailchimp?

Yes, as imported. The template has no condition between the Form.io trigger and Mailchimp. Add one after the trigger if only some submissions should be subscribed.

Are earlier Form.io submissions copied into Mailchimp?

No. Form.io entries recorded before activation are never replayed.

What do I need to run this Form.io and Mailchimp workflow?

A Form.io form that collects an email address, and a Mailchimp account with the audience you want to fill. You connect both accounts when you import.

The software works really well, and the team is adding integrations constantly, so I'm positive it eventually will catch up with Zapier. The flows are very easy to create and if you have any doubt, the team will give you great support.
