What this workflow does
Voice memos, recorded calls and interview audio pile up in Google Drive, and nobody has time to listen back through them. This workflow hands each new audio file to Deepgram for transcription and analysis, without you downloading or uploading anything yourself.
The Google Drive New File trigger fires when any new file is added, in any folder. Because that includes documents, images and spreadsheets, a Filter comes next: it continues only when the file's MIME type contains audio/, the prefix audio formats such as MP3 or WAV carry. Other files stop at the Filter.
The Deepgram Transcribe and Analyze step then processes the recording. It ships unmapped, so after import you map the Drive file into it, typically a link Deepgram can download. Deepgram may not be able to reach a file that is private to your Google account, so test with a real upload.
As imported, the transcript and analysis stay in the step's output: no later step saves or sends them. Add a step that stores the result where you will read it, and check Task History to see what Deepgram returned.

A sales rep drops call recordings into Drive after each meeting. Deepgram transcribes them, and an added Google Sheets step keeps the text where the team can search it.

Google Drive New FileFires when any new file is added to your Google Drive, inside any folder. The file's details, including its name and MIME type, are passed to the Filter and to Deepgram.
- Filter Continue If Condition Meet
Lets the run continue only when the Drive file's MIME type contains audio/, so documents, images and other non-audio files stop here. Video files have a video/ type and stop too.
- Deepgram Transcribe and Analyze
Sends the audio to Deepgram to transcribe and analyze it. Nothing is mapped yet, so connect Deepgram and map the Drive file into it, then test with an upload to confirm Deepgram can fetch the recording.

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

- Add a Google Sheets Add New Row step after the Deepgram step and map the file name and transcript into it, so every recording leaves a searchable record.
- If Deepgram can't download private Drive files, put Google Drive's Share File with Anyone action between the Filter and the Deepgram step and map the link it returns. Only do this for recordings you are happy to share by link.
- To include video recordings as well, edit the Filter condition so it also continues when the MIME type contains video/, since Deepgram's action handles pre-recorded video too.
Questions about this workflow
Which Google Drive files does Deepgram receive?
Only those whose MIME type contains audio/. The trigger fires for every new file in your Drive, and the Filter stops the rest before the Deepgram step.
Where does the Deepgram transcript end up?
Only in the Deepgram step's output, which you can see in Task History. Add a step after it, such as a Google Sheets row or an email, to keep or share the text.
Can I watch one Drive folder instead of the whole Drive?

Does the Filter care about upper or lower case in the file type?
No. Filter text checks ignore case, so audio/ matches however Google Drive capitalises the MIME type.
