When an Assembly client is activated, add a row in Google Sheets and alert Slack
When a client signs in to your Assembly portal for the first time, FlowMattic adds a row for them in Google Sheets and posts a Slack message, so the team knows onboarding can begin.

What this workflow does
Inviting a client to your portal is one thing; knowing when they actually show up is another. The first sign-in is a natural moment to start onboarding, send a welcome call invite or assign a contact person. This workflow records that moment and tells your team about it.
The Assembly Client Activated trigger fires when a client authenticates in the portal for the first time, and passes the client's details on. The Google Sheets step then adds a row to the sheet you choose. Finally, Slack posts a message to a channel.
The sheet and Slack steps come with no fields mapped. After import you pick the spreadsheet and map client details, such as name, email and company, into the columns. Then choose the Slack channel and write the message, mapping in the same details so the team sees who just signed in.
Because the trigger is the first authentication, later logins don't add rows or messages. Clients invited before you import this and who activate afterwards are included. Send a test by activating a test client and check Task History for each step's response.
Kick off onboarding calls
An accounting firm's team sees a Slack post when a new client first opens the Assembly portal and books the onboarding call that day.
Track activation for invited clients
An agency compares its invite list with the sheet of activated clients to see who hasn't signed in yet and needs a reminder.
Hand-off from sales to delivery
A consultancy's delivery lead watches the Slack channel and picks up new clients once they are inside the portal.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
Assembly Client ActivatedFires when a client authenticates in your Assembly portal for the first time. The client's details are passed to the Google Sheets and Slack steps.
Google Sheets Add New RowAdds a row for the activated client to the spreadsheet you pick. Connect Google after import and map the client details you want into your columns.
Slack Send Channel MessagePosts a Slack message about the newly activated Assembly client to the channel you set. Write the text and map in the client's name or company from the trigger.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- Assembly AccountAccount
- Google Sheets AccountAccount
- Slack AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Map the activation date into a column, if Assembly sends one, so you can see how long clients take to sign in after being invited.
- Use Slack's Send Private Channel Message action instead if client details should only reach a private channel.
- Mention the account owner in the Slack text, or map an owner column in the sheet, so it is clear who greets each client.
Questions about this workflow
Will a client's later Assembly logins add more rows?
No. The Client Activated trigger fires on the first authentication only, so each client is logged once.
Does this run when I create a client in Assembly?
No. Creating a client doesn't start it; the client has to sign in. FlowMattic's Assembly integration has a separate Client Created trigger if you want to act at that point.
Which Assembly client details reach Google Sheets and Slack?
The ones you map. Run a test activation to see what the trigger sends, then map those details into the row and the message.
Can I add a second Slack alert for a specific company?
Yes. Add another Slack step after the first with a Filter between the two on the company field, set to the company you mean. The row and the first message still go out for every client.
