When a new lead is captured in Convertbox, add the lead data to Google Spreadsheet

Every lead captured by a ConvertBox form is written to a new row in the Google Sheets spreadsheet you choose, giving you a running list of sign-ups you can sort, share or import elsewhere.

The When a new lead is captured in Convertbox, add the lead data to Google Spreadsheet workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Convertbox, Google Sheets
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

ConvertBox pop-ups and inline boxes collect leads on your pages, and those leads usually go to one email tool. A spreadsheet copy is handy when someone without access to that tool needs the list, or when you want to compare offers. This workflow adds each lead to Google Sheets as it comes in.

The Convertbox trigger, New Lead Submission, fires when a new lead is submitted. FlowMattic passes the lead's details to Google Sheets, where Add New Row writes them to the spreadsheet and sheet you pick. You match each column to a lead field, such as the email, name or the box that captured them.

Every submission adds a row, so a person who signs up twice appears twice. The sheet is a log of submissions, not a deduplicated contact list.

Comparing lead magnets

Two ConvertBox offers run on your blog. A column for the box name shows in the sheet which offer brought in more sign-ups.

Sharing leads with a partner

A joint webinar's ConvertBox registrations fill a Google Sheet shared with your co-host, who has no access to your email tool.

Backup list for your email platform

Keep a spreadsheet copy of every ConvertBox lead in case you change email providers or need to re-import.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Convertbox New Lead Submission

Fires when a new lead is submitted through a ConvertBox box. The lead's details are passed on to fill the spreadsheet row.

  2. Step 2Action
    Google Sheets Add New Row

Writes a new row to the Google Sheets spreadsheet and sheet you select. Match each column to a ConvertBox field, and connect your Google account after import.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Convertbox AccountAccount
  • Google Sheets AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Put a header row in the sheet before your first test, so the columns show up by name when you map the ConvertBox fields.
  • Add a column for the submission time, mapped from the trigger data if ConvertBox sends one, so the sheet sorts by when each lead arrived.
  • Add a Filter after the trigger if several ConvertBox boxes send leads and only one should reach this sheet.

Questions about this workflow

Does a repeat ConvertBox sign-up update the existing row?

No. Add New Row always adds a fresh row, so the same person signing up twice appears twice.

Which ConvertBox boxes send leads to the sheet?

Any box whose leads reach the trigger. Submit a test from each box and look at Task History to see which ones arrive.

Do older ConvertBox leads get copied into the sheet?

No. Only ConvertBox leads submitted after the workflow is switched on are written to Google Sheets.
