When new customer is created in WooCommerce, create a new contact in FluentCRM

When a new customer account is created in WooCommerce, this workflow adds that person to FluentCRM as a contact, or updates them if they are already there, so your store’s customers are in your email list.

WooCommerce FluentCRM

2 steps Setup ~5 min Used on 3.2k sites Free to import

The When new customer is created in WooCommerce, create a new contact in FluentCRM workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across WooCommerce, FluentCRM
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

WooCommerce keeps customer accounts for orders and logins, while FluentCRM holds the list you email. Unless the two are joined, new customers only reach your CRM when someone exports and imports them. This workflow passes each new customer across when the account is created.

The WooCommerce trigger runs whenever a new customer is created in your store. FlowMattic receives that customer's details. The FluentCRM step then creates a contact from them, or updates the contact if someone with that email is already in your CRM.

Both plugins live on the same WordPress site, so the customer data stays on your own server. The trigger is about new customer accounts, not orders. A shopper who checks out as a guest without creating an account may not start a run, so place a test order both ways after import and check Task History to see what your store does.

Welcome emails for new store accounts

Each new customer lands in FluentCRM, where you can send them a welcome email with care instructions or a guide to your store.

Customer newsletter list

Shoppers who create an account are added as contacts, so your monthly product news reaches buyers alongside people who signed up through your blog.

Wholesale account registrations

A trade buyer registers on your WooCommerce store, and the matching FluentCRM contact gives your team one place to follow up with them by email.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    WooCommerce New Customer Created

Runs each time a new customer is created in your WooCommerce store. The customer's details are passed on to the FluentCRM step for mapping.

  2. Step 2Action
    FluentCRM Create or Update Contact

Creates a FluentCRM contact from the new customer, or updates the existing contact with that email. Map the customer's email and name, then run a test to confirm the contact looks right.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • WooCommerce PluginPlugin
  • FluentCRM PluginPlugin

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Create a test customer account in WooCommerce after import so FlowMattic captures real data, then map it in the FluentCRM step.
  • Respect consent rules for marketing email. Add a Filter after the trigger if you only want customers who agreed to newsletters added to FluentCRM, based on a value your checkout records.
  • Want customers who order as guests too? Build a second workflow on a WooCommerce new order trigger with its own FluentCRM step, and map the billing email into it.

Questions about this workflow

Does a WooCommerce guest checkout create a FluentCRM contact?

Not necessarily. The trigger is New Customer Created, which depends on an account being made. Test a guest order after import to see whether your store fires it.

What if the WooCommerce customer is already a FluentCRM contact?

The step is Create or Update Contact, so FluentCRM updates the existing contact instead of adding a duplicate.

Are existing WooCommerce customers added to FluentCRM?

No. The trigger reacts to accounts made from the moment you switch the workflow on. Bring earlier customers in with a one-time import.
