Email every shopper on the daily abandoned-cart list

Every day, this workflow reads your abandoned-cart list in Google Sheets and loops through it with an Iterator, sending each shopper on the list a reminder email that names the product left in their cart.

The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

If your store or a plugin can export abandoned carts to a spreadsheet, you already have the list of people worth a nudge. What's missing is someone sending the emails. This workflow takes that sheet and writes to every shopper on it, once a day, without you copying addresses by hand.

A Schedule trigger runs the workflow daily. The Google Sheets Get Rows action reads the rows of your abandoned-cart sheet, and an Iterator loops through them so the email step runs once per row.

For each row, the Email step sends a message to the address in the email column with the subject You left something behind. The body names the item from the product column and says it is still waiting in the cart. Emails go out through your SMTP connection in FlowMattic, as set up in the Email integration.

Nothing in the workflow removes or marks rows after sending. Every shopper still on the sheet gets the same email again the next day, so clear handled rows, or add a step that records who was emailed, before you let it run for a week.

Store that exports carts to a sheet

Your cart plugin or a separate workflow writes abandoned carts to Google Sheets. Each morning the shoppers listed there get a reminder naming their product.

Manual list from phone or chat orders

Staff note customers who asked about an item but didn't buy. Adding them to the sheet means they receive a reminder with the next daily run.

Short campaign with a cleared sheet

Fill the sheet for a sale weekend and empty it afterwards. Shoppers get one reminder per day while they are on the list and none after you clear it.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Schedule Every Day

Starts a run every day. Choose a time after import when shoppers are likely to read email, and after your sheet has been updated.

  2. Step 2Action
    Google Sheets Get Rows

Reads every row from the Google Sheets spreadsheet that holds your abandoned carts and hands them on as a list. Connect Google and select the sheet with the cart data.

  3. Step 3Logic
    Iterator Loop Through Array

Loops through the rows so the email step runs once for each shopper on the sheet. Each row's columns, such as email and product, are available inside the loop.

  4. Step 4Action
    Email Send Email

Emails the shopper at the row's email address with the subject You left something behind and a line naming the product still in their cart. Edit the body to add a checkout link.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Google Sheets AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Add a Google Sheets update step after the email that writes a sent date to the row, then a Filter that skips rows already emailed, so nobody gets the same reminder twice.
  • Add a checkout or cart link column to your sheet and map it into the email body, so shoppers can return to their cart in one click.
  • Add a Filter inside the loop that skips rows with an empty email, so blank rows don't produce failed sends.
  • Use a sending address on your store's domain in the Email step so the reminder is recognised as coming from your shop.

Questions about this workflow

Will the same shopper get the abandoned-cart email every day?

Yes, as long as their row stays in the sheet. The workflow reads every row on each run and does not track who was emailed. Remove rows or add a sent marker with a Filter.

What columns does the Google Sheets cart list need?

The email step uses columns named email and product. Rename your headers to match, or remap the fields after a test run captures your sheet's real column names.

Does this detect abandoned carts on my store?

No. It only reads the sheet. Something else has to put abandoned carts there, such as an export from your store or another FlowMattic workflow.

Which email service sends the cart reminders?

The Email step in FlowMattic, which sends through the SMTP account you connect. Check your provider's sending limits if your sheet holds many rows.
