Log every new Optimizely bounce in a Google Sheets spreadsheet
Each new bounce event in Optimizely is added as a row in Google Sheets, so you build a running bounce log that you can sort, review and share without exporting data from Optimizely.

What this workflow does
Bounce events tell you something went wrong, but reviewing them inside Optimizely one at a time is slow. A spreadsheet lets you see them together, spot repeats and share the list with whoever cleans things up. This workflow writes every new Optimizely bounce to Google Sheets as it happens.
The Optimizely trigger, New Bounce, fires when a new bounce event is created. FlowMattic receives the data Optimizely sends with the event and makes each value available for mapping.
The Google Sheets step then adds a row to the spreadsheet you choose. You decide which bounce details go in which column. Nothing is filtered or grouped, so the sheet gets one row per bounce, in the order they arrive. Task History records every run, so you can compare a row with the data Optimizely sent.
Weekly bounce review
A marketer opens the sheet each Monday, sorts by the bounce details, and decides which records need attention.
Sharing bounces with a data team
Colleagues who clean contact data work from the shared Google Sheet instead of needing an Optimizely login.
Spotting a spike
A sudden run of new rows on one day shows a problem worth checking, and the sheet keeps the details for the follow-up.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
Optimizely New BounceStarts a run for each bounce event Optimizely creates. The values sent with the event become available to map in the Google Sheets step.
Google Sheets Add New RowAdds one row per bounce to the spreadsheet you select. Connect your Google account and match each column to a value from the Optimizely bounce event.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- Optimizely AccountAccount
- Google Sheets AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Add a timestamp column and map a date value from the event, so you can sort the Optimizely bounces by when they happened.
- Put a Filter after the trigger if only some bounces matter to you. Run a test first to see which values Optimizely sends, then set the condition on one of them.
- Add a Slack Send Channel Message step after Google Sheets if someone should hear about each bounce as well as see it logged.
Questions about this workflow
Will the same Optimizely bounce be logged twice?
Each new bounce event starts one run and adds one row. If Optimizely creates two bounce events for the same record, you get two rows.
Which bounce details can I put in Google Sheets?
Any value Optimizely includes with the New Bounce event. Trigger one test bounce and the values show up in the mapping list.
Does this remove bounced records from Optimizely?
No. Optimizely is only the source here; the single action writes to Google Sheets, so your Optimizely data stays as it was.
Are older Optimizely bounces copied over?
No. The trigger only picks up bounce events created after the workflow is active.
