Add new ClickUp tasks to databases in Notion

Each time a new task is created in ClickUp, FlowMattic adds an item to the Notion database you pick, filled from the task details you map, so your Notion workspace has a copy of new work as it is planned.

The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

Some teams plan in ClickUp but write documentation, reports or client updates in Notion. Keeping a list of tasks in both means copying each one across. This workflow does that copying as each task is created.

The ClickUp trigger runs each time someone adds a task in your ClickUp workspace. FlowMattic takes the task data, such as its name, and passes it to Notion. The Create Database Item action adds an item to the database you select, with the ClickUp fields you map going into its properties.

This is a one-way copy at the moment of creation. Later changes in ClickUp, such as a new status or due date, are not sent to Notion, and deleting a task does not remove the Notion item. Run a test task after import to see what ClickUp sends. Task History logs each run with Notion's response.

Client-facing task lists

Your team works in ClickUp, but clients read a Notion page. New tasks appear in a Notion database embedded in that page, so clients see what has been planned.

Weekly reporting

A manager writes the weekly report in Notion. New ClickUp tasks are already listed in a database there, ready to reference.

Linking tasks to documentation

Engineers keep specs in Notion. Each new ClickUp task gets a Notion item where related notes and links can be added.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    ClickUp Task Created

Starts a run for every task that gets added in ClickUp. The task's details are passed on for you to map into Notion.

  2. Step 2Action
    Notion Create Database Item

Adds an item to a Notion database you pick for each new ClickUp task. Connect Notion, share the database with FlowMattic, and map task fields to its properties.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • ClickUp AccountAccount
  • Notion AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Map the ClickUp task URL into a Notion URL property, if your test run shows one, so each Notion item links back to the original task.
  • Add a Filter after the ClickUp trigger to copy only tasks from one list or with a certain priority, based on the fields ClickUp sends.
  • Create a matching property in Notion for each ClickUp detail you want before import, so mapping is straightforward.

Questions about this workflow

Do ClickUp task updates sync to Notion?

No. The trigger is Task Created, so only new tasks are copied. Changes made later in ClickUp stay in ClickUp.

Which ClickUp tasks are copied to Notion?

Every new task the trigger reports. Add a Filter if you only want tasks from some lists or with certain details.

Does the Notion database need specific properties for ClickUp tasks?

No fixed set is required. Add the properties you want and map ClickUp fields into them in the Create Database Item step.

It's an exceptional product. Works great and extremely valuable. I saved thousands of dollard on Zapier, as Flowmattic makes me able to host the automation myself. And very deeply integrates with the products I need.
