Create a ClickUp task when a new Worksection task is created

Each time someone creates a task in Worksection, this workflow creates a matching task in ClickUp, so a team working in ClickUp sees new work without logging in to Worksection.

The Create a ClickUp task when a new Worksection task is created workflow on the FlowMattic canvas, with 2 steps across Worksection, ClickUp
The workflow as it appears in the builder after import. Each step opens for editing.

What this workflow does

When two teams plan in different tools, new work gets lost between them. An agency may run client projects in Worksection while its developers live in ClickUp. This workflow copies each new Worksection task into ClickUp as soon as it is created.

The Worksection trigger fires when a user creates a new task. FlowMattic passes the task data to ClickUp, where Create Task adds a task to the list you pick. You map the Worksection details, such as the task name, into the ClickUp task.

Worksection tasks are copied across once, at the moment they are created, and only in one direction. Later edits, completions or deletions in Worksection are not passed on, and changes in ClickUp do not go back. Every new Worksection task produces a ClickUp task, and each run is listed in Task History.

Agency handing work to developers

Account managers log client requests as Worksection tasks. Developers pick them up in their ClickUp list without needing a Worksection seat.

Moving to ClickUp gradually

A company switching tools keeps creating tasks in Worksection for a while. New ones appear in ClickUp so the team can start working there.

Contractor task feed

An outside contractor uses ClickUp. Tasks the project lead creates in Worksection are copied to the contractor's ClickUp list.

How this workflow runs

What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.

  1. Step 1Trigger
    Worksection Task Created

Runs when a user creates a new task in Worksection. Its details travel on to ClickUp for mapping. Create a test task after import to see which fields you can map.

  2. Step 2Action
    ClickUp Create Task

Adds the Worksection task to whichever ClickUp list you select here. Map the Worksection details into it, and use a test run to confirm what lands where.

What you need

  • FlowMatticCore
  • Worksection AccountAccount
  • ClickUp AccountAccount

After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.

Make it yours

Changes worth making after you import it.

  • Add a Filter after the trigger so only tasks from one Worksection project reach ClickUp, using the project field from a test run.
  • Map the Worksection task link into the ClickUp task, if Worksection sends it, so people can jump back to the original.
  • Worksection also has Task Completed and Task Edited triggers. Use them in separate workflows if you want those changes announced, for example in Slack.

Questions about this workflow

Do edits to the Worksection task update the ClickUp task?

No. The trigger is Task Created, and the ClickUp step only creates. Edits made afterwards in Worksection stay there.

Are existing Worksection tasks copied to ClickUp?

No. Tasks already sitting in Worksection when you activate the workflow stay where they are.

Which ClickUp list do the Worksection tasks go to?

The list you select in the ClickUp step when you set it up. All copied tasks land there unless you change the workflow.

Do comments on Worksection tasks come across?

No. This workflow only handles new tasks. Worksection has a separate Comment Created trigger you could build on.

The software works really well, and the team is adding integrations constantly, so I'm positive it eventually will catch up with Zapier. The flows are very easy to create and if you have any doubt, the team will give you great support.
