When a Formlets form is submitted, add the contact to FluentCRM and notify the team in Slack
Each Formlets form submission creates or updates the person as a FluentCRM contact by email address, then posts a message in your Slack channel so the team knows someone new has been in touch.

What this workflow does
A Formlets form that collects leads or enquiries usually feeds two needs: the person belongs in your email list, and someone on the team should know they arrived. This workflow handles both from one submission, using FluentCRM on your WordPress site and a Slack channel.
The Formlets trigger is New Submission, which fires for a new form submission. FlowMattic passes the answers to FluentCRM, where Create or Update Contact creates a contact or updates the existing one with the same email address. The run then continues to Slack, where Send Channel Message posts to the #channel you pick with the details you place in the text.
The Slack post goes out for every submission, whether FluentCRM created a new contact or updated one. Each run shows both steps' results in Task History.
Website enquiries for a small agency
Contact requests from a Formlets form land in FluentCRM for nurture emails, and the #leads channel shows who wrote in.
Event sign-ups
Attendees who register through Formlets become FluentCRM contacts you can email, and organisers see each registration in Slack.
Returning customers asking again
A past customer submits a new enquiry; FluentCRM updates their contact instead of adding a duplicate, and Slack still alerts the team.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
Formlets New SubmissionFires when someone submits your Formlets form. Every answer becomes available to map into FluentCRM and the Slack message. Connect Formlets on import.
FluentCRM Create or Update ContactCreates a FluentCRM contact from the Formlets answers, or updates the existing contact with that email address. Map the email field and any name fields you collect.
Slack Send Channel MessageAnnounces the Formlets entry in the Slack #channel you select. Write the text and add the Formlets answers the team needs, such as the person's name and message. Connect your Slack workspace.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- Formlets AccountAccount
- FluentCRM PluginPlugin
- Slack AccountAccount
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Make the email field required in your Formlets form, so FluentCRM always gets an address to match or create the contact with.
- After the FluentCRM step, add Add Tags to Contact to label these people by the form they came from. The contact exists by then, so the tag applies.
- To alert a private channel, replace the Slack step with Send Private Channel Message; for a single colleague, Send Direct Message.
Questions about this workflow
What if the Formlets submitter is already a FluentCRM contact?
Create or Update Contact matches by email address, so the existing contact is updated rather than duplicated. The Slack message still goes out.
Does FluentCRM need to run on my WordPress site for Formlets leads?
Yes. FluentCRM is a WordPress plugin, and this step writes to the copy installed alongside FlowMattic.
What does the Slack message about a Formlets entry contain?
The text you write in the Slack step, with any Formlets answers you insert. Submit a test entry after import to pick the fields.
Are old Formlets submissions added to FluentCRM?
No. Only submissions made after the workflow is turned on create or update contacts.
