When a new form submission is received in WPForms, create a new user in WordPress
Each WPForms submission creates a new WordPress user on your site from the answers in the form, so people who fill in your sign-up or application form get an account without you adding them by hand.

What this workflow does
Some sites need accounts for the people who fill in a form: members of a club, students on a course, clients who use a private area. Adding each one under Users in the dashboard is slow, and a form you already like is a friendlier way to collect the details. This workflow turns each WPForms entry into a WordPress user.
The WPForms trigger fires when a visitor submits your form, and each answer becomes data you can map. FlowMattic then runs New User in WordPress, creating a user on the same site from the values you map, such as the email address and name from the form.
Everything stays on your own WordPress site. A repeat sign-up with the same email doesn't create a second account: the step returns the existing user's ID, and Task History shows it. Before you go live, make a test submission and check the new user's role and details under Users.
Member sign-ups for a club or association
Your membership form collects name and email. Each new member gets a WordPress account they can use to reach members-only pages.
Client portal access
A consultant asks new clients to fill in an onboarding form. Each submission creates the account they will use to log in to the client area.
Volunteer registration
Volunteers sign up through WPForms, and each one is added as a WordPress user so you can manage them alongside the rest of your site's users.
How this workflow runs
What happens at each step once the workflow is on, and what you need before you import it.
WPForms New Form SubmissionRuns when a visitor submits your WPForms form. Every field from the entry is passed to the WordPress step so you can map it into the new user.
WordPress New UserCreates a new user on your WordPress site from the submission. Map the form's email and name answers into the user, then check a test run to see what else the action takes and which role the user gets.
What you need
- FlowMatticCore
- WPForms PluginPlugin
After importing, map your own data. To keep the template universal, not every step is pre-filled. Open each step in the builder and connect your accounts and fields (channels, lists, sheets, recipients) before you switch the workflow on.
Make it yours
Changes worth making after you import it.
- Make the email field required in WPForms, so every submission has an address to create the WordPress user with.
- Add a Filter between the WPForms trigger and the WordPress step that continues only when a consent or terms checkbox is ticked, so accounts are only made for people who agreed.
- Add an email step after New User to welcome the person and tell them how to log in, since the workflow itself does not send them a message.
Questions about this workflow
What happens if the email from WPForms already belongs to a WordPress user?
The WPForms entrant keeps a single account. FlowMattic finds the user who already has that email and reports their ID as the step's result, visible on the New User step in Task History. Any role chosen in the step is added to that person's account.
Will people who submit the WPForms form be told about their new account?
The workflow does not add one. Check after a test run whether your site sends anything, and add an email step if you want a welcome message.
Can spam submissions in WPForms create WordPress accounts?
Yes, any entry that reaches the trigger creates a user. Keep spam protection on in WPForms and consider a Filter on a field only real visitors fill in.
Which role does the WordPress user created from WPForms get?
That depends on how the New User step is set when you import it. Submit a test entry, then open the new user under Users to see the role before you go live.
