What this workflow does

A Typeform quiz or survey tells you a lot about a person, and tags are how WP Fusion turns that into access rules and segments on your WordPress site. This workflow takes each response, puts the person on your MailPoet list and then tags them, so the answers someone gives can decide which content or emails they get.

The Typeform trigger starts a run for every response a person submits. The MailPoet step then creates a new subscriber from the response; it ships unmapped, so you map the email and name answers into it after import.

Next come two WP Fusion steps. Get Contact ID looks the person up by email in the CRM WP Fusion is connected to and returns their contact ID. Apply Tag(s) then adds one or more tags to that contact. Both ship empty: map the respondent's email into the lookup, map the returned contact ID into Apply Tag(s), and pick the tags.

The lookup finds the person only if they already exist in WP Fusion's CRM. That's the case when WP Fusion uses MailPoet as its CRM, because step 2 has just created them. If WP Fusion is linked to a different CRM, a brand-new respondent may not be there yet, so test with a fresh email and read Task History before you rely on it.

Looks up the person's contact ID by email address in the CRM that WP Fusion is connected to. Map the Typeform email answer into it; the ID it returns feeds the tag step.

To tag people by their answers, put a Router between the Get Contact ID step and Apply Tag(s), give each route its own Apply Tag(s) step with a different tag, and use answer values that can't both match.
Confirm in WP Fusion's settings which CRM it is connected to before importing, since the Get Contact ID step searches that CRM and not MailPoet directly unless MailPoet is the CRM.
Make the email question required in Typeform, because both the MailPoet subscriber and the WP Fusion lookup depend on it.

Questions about this workflow

Does WP Fusion have to be connected to MailPoet for this Typeform flow?

It works most directly that way, because the subscriber created in step 2 is then the contact WP Fusion finds. With another CRM, the lookup only finds people who already exist there, so test with a new email first.

What if the Typeform respondent is already a MailPoet subscriber?

Create New Subscriber is meant for new people, and MailPoet may return an error for an email it already holds, and Task History records what MailPoet said. The later WP Fusion steps look the person up by email either way.

Which tags does WP Fusion apply?

The ones you pick in the Apply Tag(s) step. The template sets none, so choose them after import, or map a Typeform answer in if your CRM's tag names match the answer values.

Do I need a WordPress account for each Typeform respondent?

No. The Apply Tag(s) step works on the CRM contact found by email in step 3, not on a WordPress user.
