Connect GMass and Google Sheets

GMass sends mail merge campaigns from Gmail and reports sends, opens, clicks, replies, bounces and unsubscribes. Many GMass users keep their prospect list in Google Sheets. FlowMattic writes each GMass event into a sheet from your own WordPress site, so the outreach list itself shows who replied, who bounced and who asked to stop.

2. ActionAdd New Row

When GMass fires Email Sent, FlowMattic runs Add New Row in Google Sheets with the data from that event.

You build this in the FlowMattic workflow builder on your own site. See the setup steps

GMass and Google Sheets workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Log every GMass email sent to a sheet

Each campaign send adds a row with the recipient, subject and campaign, giving a dated record of who was contacted and when.

Mark replies on your prospect list

Email Replied finds the prospect's row by email and sets a Replied column, so whoever owns the list can see which conversations are open without searching Gmail.

Collect bounced addresses on a cleanup tab

Each bounce goes onto a Bounced tab with the address and campaign, so you can remove bad addresses from the source list before the next send.

Email Unsubscribed looks up the address and writes Do not contact in its row, which keeps the next mail merge from that sheet clear of people who opted out.

Email Clicked adds the recipient and the clicked URL to a Clicks tab, so you can see who looked at pricing or a case study before you call.

Write a last-opened date next to each prospect

Rather than a row per open, Email Opened updates one dated column per person, formatted by Date/Time Formatter, so a sort shows the warmest prospects first.

Set up: log each email sent

At the end, every email GMass sends as part of a campaign is recorded as a row in your sheet.

  1. Create a Sends tab

Add headers such as Recipient, Campaign, Subject and Sent at. Keep it separate from the prospect list GMass sends from.

  2. Connect GMass and Google

Under Connects, add your GMass account and the Google account that owns the spreadsheet.

  3. Trigger on Email Sent

Start a workflow with the GMass Email Sent trigger and send a small test campaign to yourself so the fields are captured.

  4. Write the row

Add Google Sheets Add New Row, map the recipient and campaign fields, test the step and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Email Sent is for campaign emails, not single transactional messages, so one-off emails you send from Gmail will not appear.
  • If your campaign was sent from a Google Sheet, write results to extra columns or a separate tab rather than the merge columns GMass reads.
  • Lookups match on the exact email address. Keep addresses in lowercase in the sheet so replies and unsubscribes find their row.

Triggers (6)

  • Email SentTriggers when an individual email is sent as part of a campaign. This is not the trigger for transactional emails.
  • Email OpenedTriggers when an email is opened.
  • Email RepliedTriggers when an email that is sent as part of a campaign receives a reply.
  • Email UnsubscribedTriggers when an email address is unsubscribed.
  • Email ClickedTriggers when a link is clicked in an email.
  • Email BouncedTriggers when an email bounces.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

GMass and Google Sheets connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Results on the list you send from

Replies, bounces and opt-outs land next to each prospect, so the next campaign starts from a list that is already cleaned.

Large campaigns, same price

Runs are unlimited, so logging every send and open from a campaign of thousands costs nothing extra on FlowMattic.

Prospect data on your own server

Engagement data passes through your WordPress site into your own sheet, rather than another automation company's account.

Common questions

Can I see GMass replies in my Google Sheet?

Yes. Start a workflow on Email Replied, look up the prospect's row by email with Lookup Row Data, and set a Replied column with Update Row.

How do I stop emailing people who unsubscribed?

Use Email Unsubscribed to write Do not contact in the person's row, then filter those rows out of the sheet before your next mail merge.

Should I log every open?

On large campaigns, a row per open grows the sheet quickly. Updating a last-opened date on each prospect's row gives the useful part with fewer rows.

Can bounces go to a separate cleanup list?

Yes. Email Bounced can add each address to a Bounced tab with the campaign it came from, ready for you to remove from the source list.
