Connect WPForms and Google Sheets

Send WPForms entries from your WordPress site to Google Sheets without a paid add-on per form. FlowMattic writes each entry as a row, and the same workflow can drop spam-like entries, pick a tab by department, hold testimonials for approval or check a code against a sheet. It suits contact, quote, survey and application forms.

WPForms and Google Sheets workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Save every WPForms entry as a Google Sheets row

The whole team can read entries in one shared sheet with the columns in the order they want, and the sheet keeps working if the form is redesigned.

Keep only the entries that mention what you track

A Filter lets an entry through only when a field contains the word or value you care about, such as a product name, so the sheet holds the relevant entries only.

Pull the links out of submitted messages

For guest post pitches, portfolios or bug reports, Text Formatter extracts the URLs from the message so they sit in their own column, ready to click.

Give each department its own tab

A Router reads the department dropdown and writes sales, support and careers entries to separate tabs, so each team works from its own list.

Approve testimonials before they reach the public sheet

Testimonial forms can bring in anything. Human in the Loop asks a person to approve each one, and only approved quotes are added to the sheet your site or designer reads from.

Mark a one-time code as used when someone redeems it

Gift, voucher or class codes live in a sheet. The workflow looks up the submitted code and writes the person's email and the date into its row, so it cannot be claimed again unnoticed.

Set up: every entry as a row

At the end, each entry of the WPForms form you choose is written as one row in your Google Sheet.

  1. Set up the sheet

Create the spreadsheet and type a header for each form field you want to keep.

  2. Connect Google Sheets

Under Connects, add a Google Sheets connection using an account with edit access to that spreadsheet.

  3. Trigger on New Form Submission

Create a workflow with WPForms New Form Submission, pick your form and submit a test entry to capture its fields.

  4. Map the row

Add Google Sheets Add New Row, choose the spreadsheet and sheet, map each field to its header, test and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • WPForms has one trigger and no actions in FlowMattic, so every workflow here starts with a new entry, and changes in the sheet are not sent back to WPForms.
  • Entries submitted before the workflow was switched on are not copied. Export them from WPForms and paste them into the sheet once.
  • The mapping is an example; your form's fields set the columns you need.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

WPForms and Google Sheets connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

No add-on per form

One FlowMattic install covers every WPForms form on the site, each with its own workflow and sheet.

Entries go straight from your server

WPForms and FlowMattic run on the same WordPress site, so form data travels from your server to Google and nowhere else.

Busy forms, same price

Runs are unlimited, so a popular form that collects thousands of entries a month costs nothing extra in FlowMattic.

Common questions

How do I connect WPForms to Google Sheets?

Install FlowMattic, add a Google Sheets connection, then build a workflow with the WPForms New Form Submission trigger and an Add New Row step. Map each field to a column, test with one entry and switch the workflow on.

What happens if I add or rename a form field later?

The mapping uses the fields captured from your test entry. After changing the form, send a new test entry, refresh the mapping in Add New Row and add a header for any new column.

Can one entry update an existing row instead of adding a new one?

Yes. Search the sheet with Lookup Row Data on a column such as email, then use Update Row or Update Cell Data on the row it finds.

Can different forms write to the same sheet?

Yes. Build a workflow per form and point each Add New Row at the same spreadsheet, adding a column for the form name so you can tell them apart.
