Connect WPForms and Mailchimp

WPForms powers newsletter boxes, lead magnet downloads, payment forms and surveys on many WordPress sites. FlowMattic runs on the same site and sends each entry into Mailchimp with the tags, segments or events that fit the form. It suits bloggers, online shops, coaches and agencies who build forms in WPForms and email from Mailchimp.

1. TriggerNew Form Submission

When WPForms fires New Form Submission, FlowMattic runs Add New Member in Mailchimp with the data from that event.

WPForms and Mailchimp workflows you can build

Each one uses only triggers and actions the two integrations ship today, plus FlowMattic's own tools. Where the library has a ready-made template, import it instead of building from scratch.

Add each WPForms entry as a Mailchimp member

The email and the first and last name from the WPForms name field go straight into your audience, ready for the welcome email.

Subscribe only people who ticked the agreement box

A Filter checks the GDPR agreement or opt-in checkbox, so contact and quote forms can feed your list without subscribing people who said no.

Put lead magnet downloaders in a segment for that guide

After Add New Member, Add Member to Segment puts readers of each guide into its own segment, so follow-up emails stay on the topic they downloaded.

Tag buyers from WPForms payment forms

When someone pays through a WPForms order form, Add Member Tag labels them with the product, so customers stop getting the sales emails for something they bought.

Record webinar registrations as Mailchimp events

Add Member Event logs registered for webinar with the date, which can start a Mailchimp journey of reminders and the replay link.

Remove a topic tag when a survey says not interested

A short preferences survey built in WPForms can read each answer, and a Router removes the tag for topics the person no longer wants.

Set up: entries as members

At the end, every entry of the WPForms form you pick adds the person to a Mailchimp audience.

  1. Connect Mailchimp

Under Connects, add the Mailchimp account that owns your audience. WPForms runs on the same site, so it needs no connection.

  2. Start with New Form Submission

Create a workflow with the WPForms New Form Submission trigger, pick the form and send a test entry.

  3. Map Add New Member

Add Mailchimp Add New Member, choose the audience and map email plus the first and last parts of the name field.

  4. Test and switch on

Run the step test, confirm the member appears in Mailchimp and switch the workflow on.

Triggers and actions in this pair

A trigger starts a workflow. An action is something FlowMattic does in the app as a step.

Good to know

  • Every workflow here starts with a WPForms entry. Mailchimp triggers such as New Unsubscriber cannot change WPForms entries.
  • Payment details depend on the payment add-on and fields in your form. Map from a real test payment before tagging buyers.
  • Tags are created by name when first used, but segments must exist in Mailchimp before Add Member to Segment can use them.

Why run this pair with FlowMattic

WPForms and Mailchimp connect through FlowMattic on your own site, with no separate automation account in the middle and no charge per run.

Forms and FlowMattic side by side

Both run in your WordPress, so entries go from your own server to Mailchimp without a third service in the middle.

No limit on entries

Runs are unlimited, so a popular download form or a busy sale needs no bigger FlowMattic plan.

Each form gets its own logic

Opt-in checks, segments, tags and events can differ per form, so a webinar form and a shop form treat people differently.

Common questions

How do I add WPForms subscribers to Mailchimp?

Create a workflow with the WPForms New Form Submission trigger, add Mailchimp Add New Member, choose your audience and map the email and name fields from the form.

Can I keep test entries out of my audience?

Yes. Add a Filter that stops entries whose email is your own or contains a word such as test, and remove any members you created while setting the workflow up.

What if the person is already subscribed?

Put Find Member before Add New Member and use a Router: people already in the audience go to Update Member or Add Member Tag, and only new emails are added.

Can different forms go to different audiences?

Yes. Build one workflow per form, or a single workflow with a Router on the form title, each path pointing at its own audience.
